P.E. changes for Miss Tate’s class

27th November 2014

Hello!

Just a quick message to inform everyone that children in Miss Tate’s class will have outdoor P.E on a Monday. Could parents please ensure that they have their outdoor kits in their P.E bags. It is very cold outside.

Children in Miss Tate’s class will now have dance on a Wednesday instead of a Thursday.

Many thanks.

Change of PE days for 1c

27th November 2014jenniferhover

Year 1c have changed their PE days.

Our new days are Wednesday and Friday.

Children are encouraged to keep their PE kits in school so they have them for every lesson.

Please make sure they have warm jumpers/bottoms as they will be doing some of their lessons outside.

The children are becoming more independent and responsible for their own PE kits so thank you for your continuing support with this 🙂

Plague prop making!

27th November 2014

We had a very creative morning today, designing and making props for our Plague Horrible Histories episodes. We were sewing, drawing, painting, doing papier mache and modelling clay! Although we haven’t finished making everything yet, here are a few pictures of our progress so far…

A Frosty Day in the Woods – Rushmere Country Park Trip

25th November 2014

We went on our trip to Rushmere Country Park to watch our Christmas tree being chopped down and ignite our learning for tree week.

It was a great day where we learnt about different changes in nature such as; the lifecycle of a butterfly, the different seasons and changing trees.

The children were brilliantly behaved and listened well to our ranger and really enjoyed listening to ‘The Littlest Christmas Tree’.

Homework due 26.11.14

21st November 2014V Holloway

As year 5 become individuals, it is important we give them opportunities to take responsibility for their own learning. Therefore this week they have chosen which aspect of the Plague they would like to find out more about and how they want to present their research.

Here some of the examples of ideas they came up with:

  • Design your own medicine for the Plague. You can draw or make your medicine and write a list of ingredients to go in it, explaining why you have chosen that ingredient. Think carefully about what would have been available in 1665 (e.g. Calpol would not). You may need to research Plague remedies to find out what ingredients they used.
  • Research general information about the Plague. Answer these questions:

Why did the Plague spread so easily?

Which places in England suffered the most from the Plague and why were they the worst places?

Can you group the different things that caused/contributed to the Plague into different groups?

You could also make a timeline of events that happened during 1665 and 1666.

Present your research as a poster, powerpoint or booklet

  • Find a picture which relates to the Plague of 1665 and have a go at drawing it yourself. Use pencil skills like shading and cross hatching.
  • Research your chosen aspect of the Plague to help your group when you come to make your Horrible Histories episode. Present your research as a poster or a powerpoint.
