Coming soon to a corridor near you…

27th March 2015J Francis

As we were so inspired by the mosaics we saw on our trip to the Verulamium we decided to create our very own for Brooklands!

On Wednesday an artist came to school to help us make a piece of history for the school, which will last for years and remind us of our core values, Open, Grow and Believe.  Here are some sneak previews of the children’s amazing work…

It’s the end of term and what a busy term it’s been.

We wish our Teachers that are leaving us lots of luck at their new schools and thank you for all your hard work.

Please enjoy your Easter Holidays.  Don’t eat too much chocolate!

A Magical Afternoon at Brooklands

27th March 2015V Holloway

Yesterday afternoon saw Year 5’s Harry Potter project come to an end as they shared their learning and lessons with year 3 and 4 children. Wand skills, potions and quidditch were the three lessons being planned and taught by the year 5’s. They really enjoyed sharing their learning journey and were very responsible as they ‘taught’ the skills and knowledge they had learnt to the younger children. Harry Potter has been a fantastic project in Year 5, they have all really engaged with it and we have seen some outstanding work and amazing progress being made as a result! Well Done Year 5!

A great half term!

26th March 2015Mrs S Taylor

We have had a great half term in 2c with lots of steps taken in our learning and lots of fun along the way! The children have truly embraced our masterchef topic,  writing information reports about fruit, creating leaflets about how to grow plants and even using their play times to create dances and songs about healthy eating! There have been lots of calm pins achieved, high learning zones and lots of growing!

Enjoy your easter break and we look forward to starting our next project on nocturnal animals when we get back!

Eclipse experience enjoyed by Year 2

25th March 2015Mrs L Odell

What a busy half term we have had! The highlight for many was the eclipse. This generated some amazing stories by the children were they used the moon covering the sun and being ‘plunged into darkness’ as the problem. The children thought of creative resolutions and really put their writing skills to great use.

To experience the eclipse we used two pieces of paper (one with a tiny hole in) to see what was happening above (without actually looking!) What a fantastic experience this was for the children!

On Friday I also had the pleasure of awarding two star pupils with their calm pins. Well done! We are very proud of you! I wonder who will be next?!

They really enjoyed sharing their learning with peers and teachers. They all did a fantastic job and have clearly engaged and progressed in their enrichment learning this term. Well Done Year 5!
