A big thank you!

By Mrs S Taylor19th November 2015

A huge thank you to all the parents that helped out at Countess Way today making lanterns. It was fantastic to see everyone working in partnership together and the children loved having you in their classrooms helping out. The lanterns are looking fantastic! We are looking forward to seeing you at the lantern festival tomorrow!

By Miss Rebecca Snowdon19th November 2015

This week we have taken part in an anti-bullying workshop with a visiting specialist. To follow up on this session, it would be a brilliant idea to watch the anti-bullying debate on CBBC at 5:30pm this evening.

Strong & Powerful Geographers

By Miss Rebecca Snowdon19th November 2015

We’ve tested out our map reading skills today.  We annotated a blank map of the world with as many countries we could find and began to use a key to compare landscapes and climates.

She has demonstrated her individuality by always trying her hardest and taking pride in her work. She takes responsibility for her own learning and approaches things with her own style.

Anti-Bullying Week Newsround tonight!

By 19th November 2015

We have been doing work on Anti-Bullying this week and Newsround tonight are having a debate on the issue. If you are at home with your children tonight and you are free it would be great if they could watch it to support the learning we are doing at school. It’s on at 5:30pm.

Thank you

Tips for helping with Phonics

By a mason19th November 2015

Here are a few links to help you at home when practising with your child:

http://jollylearning.co.uk/2010/11/03/jolly-phonics-actions/  This link tells you about the actions we use when we teach the sounds.

This link explains how blending works with a  video example:

http://jollylearning.co.uk/2010/11/01/blending/

There are other examples on Youtube of the correct pronunciation of letter sounds. We follow the Letters and Sounds programme.

You can also find the songs that help us to remember the sounds – you can search on Youtube for this but here is a taster from the Jolly Phonics website:

We hope this is helpful!  If you have any questions please speak to your class teacher.

Year 6 Football

By 19th November 2015

Last night I braved the windy weather and went to watch the Year 6 football at Tattenhoe.

The boys certainly did us proud drawing in the first game and winning the second 5-1!

It was fantastic to see the team working together and showing off their skills.

Well done Brooklands Farm!
