On Saturday, 22 year 4, 5 and 6 children competed in the Milton Keynes Cross Country festival. Children showed great teamwork, resilience and determination. The children raced against around 130 other children from 26 different schools. In our category of ‘Ultra Large’ School overall we finished 8 out of 16 schools! They all gave their absolute best and made us all very proud of them!!
Some of us then demonsted strong and powerful learning by presenting what behaviours they would show.
Maths this week has been amazing! From countdown to problem solving we have been extremely challenged but our strong and powerful behaviours have shone through!
It has been an incredible journey seeing class 5a become individuals. It has been a pleasure sharing this journey with you and I look forward to continuing the journey into year 6.
Transition went very well and i am extremely proud that you are all ready for year 6!

Year 5 have taken their maths outside this week in order to record their own data to present and analyse in a line graph. The children have been running, jumping, and doing sit-ups – having a great time doing so.
In year 5 we have had a brilliant start to our Volkswagen project. The learning that has gone on has been brilliant and the children are asking some real high level questions. The collaborative work in the class has been a highlight and a pleasure to be a part of!
A selection of year 5 and 6 children took part in a writers day where they were lucky enough to spend the day with the author Colin Parsons! The children participated in workshops and produced amazing WWI inspired stories. The children then read the stories aloud and impressed Colin with their efforts!
They had a brilliant day and everyone is enjoying reading Colin’s stories they have brought back to school!

Thank you to all the parents, children and staff that came to the cross country on Saturday morning. The children’s attitudes were amazing and they all made everybody very proud.
Year 5 were extremely lucky to be able to spend the afternoon with the artist Walter Jack. The children were given the opportunity to share their creative ideas and design different structures.
We have had a great start in year 5!
Last week we made our class rules and created a ‘learners promise’ together! We also created our protective hands which are displayed in the classrooms.
In our classes we discussed the expectations of Year 5 learners and what it means to be individual. The children now have a clear understanding and are well on there way to earning their ‘individual’ badges.
We have started learning our upper key stage 2 songs ‘Gold’ and ‘Roar’ which the children are enjoying.
This week we are starting to write our own poems about The Journey of Brooklands Farm and have started their hand based art project.
