6a are on a roll!
Congratulations to the next member of our team to get his Strong and Powerful pin – you were the first boy, well done!
In 6a we’ve been lucky enough to give out not one…but two more Strong and Powerful badges! I can’t keep up with this growing team, they are learning so quickly.
It was wonderful to have parents with us to celebrate. Thank you for joining us.
What a week for 6A! In addition to the ‘Open, Grow, Believe’ pin we awarded earlier this week, we have now also given out our first ‘Strong and Powerful learner’ pin!
Congratulations for achieving your pin, it was lovely to have your Dad in to celebrate with us.
As a reminder, there are nine others who will be having their celebration assemblies during the first week back. I am sending invitations out today. If the day does not suit you, please contact the office as soon as you can so that we can rearrange.
It was lovely to be able to award the newest member of the 6a team her Open, Grow, Believe badge. Congratulations! I’m so glad that your Mum and Miss Langford could join us in the celebration assembly.
This week has been assessment week! Well done everybody, you tried really hard.
Your home learning this week:
These tasks need to be completed by Wednesday. We do not always manage to mark the home learning on the Wednesday but do always mark it before you get given your next task. Please, do not take your home learning home with you until it has been marked! Ideally, you should bring your home learning book in on Wednesday and take it home on Friday with your new task. There is no need to take it sooner.
As always, please do come to home learning club on Tuesday lunchtime. It is open to all!
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Snowdon, Miss Bold and Mr Peters.
Please find attached the maths task for this week. You can print and complete at home or at school.
This is due in on Wednesday. Enjoy!
Miss Snowdon
There was a confusion over the newspaper home work task last week.
So, we’re trying it again!
Well done and thank you to the people who wrote their space research up into a complete newspaper report. You have now had a review session in a small group with Miss Snowdon to discuss the success of each ‘part’ of the report (headline, lead sentence, etc) and whether they have each been written appropriately to fulfill their purpose. From this session, you have clear next steps.
Your task this week, is to write a new draft of your newspaper report using the year six writing ladders and the next steps that you have been given from the review session with Miss Snowdon.
If you did not write up the full report yet, this is your chance! Make sure that the research that you recorded into your box it up plan is written into a full newspaper report. See last week’s home work post to see the visual success criteria for newspaper report writing.
This task is due in on Wednesday. You will also be given a maths task by your maths teacher and a list of spellings.
As ever, do not forget home work club on Tuesday lunch times.
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Snowdon, Miss Bold and Mr Peters
At Brooklands Farm, we are using lunch times to improve our general health and fitness. We are aiming to achieve 180 laps of the mugga pitch over time, which will be equivalent to a marathon!
For every lap we complete, we get a counter. Our running total is being recorded by the PE team.
Here are a few pictures of our first golden mile run:
Please find attached two versions of our newspaper box it up plan (1 with features included and one without) and the visual aid which is useful when remembering how to write a newspaper report. Paper copies will be sent home too just in case!
You will also be receiving 1 piece of work from your maths teacher and a “Look, cover, write, check” spelling list for this week’s rule (tious and cious).
All tasks are due in for Wednesday next week (7th). As ever, Tuesday lunch time home learning club is open to all.
Miss Snowdon
We’ve had a brilliant time revising word classes today in SPAG!
