Year 3 and 4 have had a fantastic afternoon den building as part of their ultimate survival project. We are creating a den for the shared space which all the children can use. It is looking great and coming together really quickly! Make sure you look out for it next time you are walking past… you can’t miss it!!
Every Thursday afternoon at 2.30 for the last two weeks there has been a very calm atmosphere at Countess Way. We have started a shared reading time across KS1 & 2 and it is a truly magical experience! All staff have offered a book to read and the children have signed up to the book they want to listen too. It has been lovely to see the excitement, high levels of engagement and children whisked off into the fictional worlds of some of our favourite authors.
This half term the books include:
The Borrowers
The Magic Finger
Danny the Campion of the World
The Magic Faraway Tree
Wind in the Willows
Fantastic Mr Fox
Here we are listening to the stories.
When I walked past the hall today at Countess Way, I couldn’t help but go in and see what was happening!
The room was a buzz of energy with the learning objective: How does exercise make us feel? The children were discussing the physical and emotional feelings related to exercise.
They also couldn’t wait to show me the challenging activities which had raised their heart rates!
In assembly today Mrs Higginbottom talked to us about what it meant to be Brooklands boys and girls. We thought about the qualities we need to have to be part of the Brooklands team and what we would need to do to Open, Grow and Believe.
Some of the words we came up with were:
Learning zone 4 or 5
High well being
Reciprocal relationships
Gotcha smiles
Open dialogues
Growing our relationships
Good eye contact
Believing in ourselves, others and our team
If you get a chance to, maybe your children could talk to you about what they have done at school today to Open, Grow & Believe.
A huge thank you to all the parents that helped out at Countess Way today making lanterns. It was fantastic to see everyone working in partnership together and the children loved having you in their classrooms helping out. The lanterns are looking fantastic! We are looking forward to seeing you at the lantern festival tomorrow!
Mrs Taylor
We have had a superb day back at Countess Way after half term. Our assembly with Mrs Higginbottom gave us a chance to remember the skills we develop in each year group and we have settled quickly back into being friendly, determined, calm, balanced and achieving Brooklands’ children.
I can’t wait to see what new learning this term brings! Here are some of the high learning zones I spotted this morning:
As I walked past the hall today I spotted some amazing PE skills from Year 2.
They were practising jumping and landing safely and then went on to adding half turns to their jumps! It was great to see them enjoying PE so much with Mr Goodman and I managed to snap a few action shots on the way!
Good morning 2c!
A quick message to say good luck as you move into Year 3! After a fantastic transition we know you are going to flourish even more as you continue your Brookland’s journey. I am looking forward to visiting you upstairs and seeing lots of balance!
Mrs Taylor & all the Year 2 team
Here are some lovely (and funny) pictures we took of 2c on their last day together before they move onto their next Brooklands challenge… Year 3! They have truly embraced Year 2 and have shown heaps of calm every day. It has been been a pleasure to see their ‘gotcha smiles’ every morning! Thank you for all of your support over the last year, I can’t wait to see them grow as they move upstairs!
