What a busy few weeks for 1a!
We thoroughly enjoyed our ignite day where we got to dress up like Stuarts and learn all about the Great Fire of London. We have been using what we learnt since – in literacy we have been looking at Samuel Pepys and his diary entry for the night of the fire. We have imitated his diary, making sure we include time connectives. We have also now innovated his diary, writing from the viewpoint of the baker who was responsible for the fire. This week we move on to invent!
In project we have learnt how they put out the Great Fire in 1666 and compared it to today. We learnt that it is much quicker and easier to put out a fire with fire engines! We also learnt how the tightly packed houses caused the fire to spread quickly and that when London was rebuilt the houses were built further apart with brick fronts. This week in project we will look at everyday materials and their properties.
In maths we started multiplication, looking at groups of. We found this tricky to start with and needed to be determined with our learning. This week we will start learning division.
