Thank you to everyone in year one who dressed up, baked cakes, ate cakes and donated money to Children in Need on Friday! I was bowled over by the amount of effort put into costumes and the delicious treats, along with the money we raised – total to follow.
Last week year 1 had a fantastic time stepping back into 1666 to experience daily activities from the era. The children all looked fantastic and loved getting involved in our ignite day. This has sparked an interest in the children and their learning about The Great Fire of London has been incredible so far!
Noah excitedly came to show me his box of determination! He talked about all the great things he was going to put in there to showcase his determined attitude! I was so proud of how well he has developed his year 1 attitude!
Today the children in year one have been having lots of fun learning all about the months of the year, their birthdays and autumn! They have had very sticky fingers from cutting and sticking lots of autumn leaves that the children had found when out on walks. Take a look at their great autumnal animals.
Year one have been busy learning all about themselves this half term. We have enjoyed exploring our senses, learning about ourselves and others, along with our likes and dislikes. This also linked in with our target cards, earning our ticks for taking turns, sharing and showing good listening skills.
Thank you to all of the parents who came in to share their child’s learning this morning, the children were so excited to show you what they have achieved so far.
We have been learning about the differences between the left and right brain.
We have learnt the text map for a Dr. Seuss poem and have been thinking about how to make it even better. Tomorrow we are going to be writing our even better sentences about the brain into our Brain Books.
We are so excited about sharing them in assembly on Friday.
Class 1B have been stretching their determined muscles this week. We have been writing stories about the Snail and the Whale and trying to use our joined up writing in all our work. Several children got to put a heart in Miss Low’s jar. We are so proud of our learning this week!
We have been working hard to improve our number formation and write addition and subtraction number sentences.
