Determined learning in year 1!

By 8th July 2016

What a great week the new 1c have had!

We have settled well into our new class and the teachers have been really impressed with our determined learning. We have been very busy learning all about our peers. We now know some of their likes and dislikes!

For literacy we have been looking at explanations and what makes a Brooklands Farm learner. We have been busy learning all the different actions to go with the text. Please ask us about it as we would love to show you what we have been doing!

In maths we have been looking at number bonds to 10. We have started learning the “Number bonds are pairs of friends and together they make 10” song. Please take a look on youtube and practise it at home!

We have also begun our Aspiration & Inspiration project. We have been learning about people who inspire us. So far we have looked at Ellie Simmonds. We also looked at the brave people who help us everyday. Next week we will learn about Tom Daley, Kirsty Howard and Malala Yousafzai. Please take a look at our working wall in class or ask us what we have found out so far!

Green Town Group final trip to Campbell Park

By 20th June 2016

Today Miss Drapers class completed their three outdoor learning art experiences at Campbell park with artist James Aldridge and MKG. They had talked and planned their learning with the artists last time we met and were very excited about their den building experience. They used willow and bamboo to create these wonderful shelters( fortunately the rain held off and we didn’t need to use them!)

Today we wished Mrs Francis good luck in her new journey to becoming a mummy! Year One had a special assembly to say good bye, along with spoiling Mrs Francis with personalised cards and lovely presents. We have loved having Mrs Francis in year one and we wish her all the best, we cannot wait to meet Baby Francis!

Amazing ocean creations

By J Francis15th April 2016

1c have enjoyed starting their Under the Sea project this week – we have begun creating our environment and will continue to turn our classroom into an underwater world next week!

We have also learned lots of interesting facts about jelly fish and octopus so that we can begin to write our own information texts next week.

We are also very lucky to be able to decorate our room with some really creative homework, we love seeing your amazing creations! Take a look….

Wonderful learning in the Year One unit

By J Francis25th September 2015

Well done 1c for being so determined this week!

This week we started moving around the Year One unit for our learning and you faced many challenges along the way – choosing your learning, finding the resources you need in a different room, re-setting the room for the next class and of course sharing your learning to see what you could green and gold.

We think you all managed it brilliantly, well done!

Have a lovely weekend 🙂

Mrs Francis & Miss Downey
