Class 2b are very excited to start learning about chocolate with the chocolatier! We found out that she has tasted chocolate with garlic and bacon flavours – we all pulled a strange face at this! Photos will be posted when we find out more!!!
Today we have spent lots of time converting our classroom into the ‘journey of chocolate’. We were creating a jungle area to show where cocoa beans are from. We then created a vending machine and a chocolate shop to show where we get chocolate from! We used lots of materials and had lots of fun creating our new classroom!!
Here are some photos from our day…
We have now tested our material covered paper boats to see if they were waterproof! We found that the wooden boats had holes in them so they weren’t waterproof! Some of the plastic covered boats were waterproof and ALL of the tin foil boats were waterproof! We worked as a team and cheered on each of the groups that had been successful in creating a waterproof boat! We have all really grown our understanding of materials!
Well done class 2b!
I had the opportunity to work with some wonderful children today supporting writing.
The children created, constructed and reordered bossy sentences. They then worked together to improve their spelling and composition.
I am so proud of their work!
Well done year 2
As part of our project about Lighthouses, we have been learning about the properties of materials.
Miss Low heard about the fantastic learning that was happening in Year 2 and posed us a dilemma… With all her travelling back and forth to our two sites, she keeps forgetting her lunch! Miss Low suggested a rope to transport her lunch from one school to the other (like in The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch!) but could we make a waterproof lunch box to make sure she wouldn’t have soggy sandwiches if it rained?!
We chose some materials to test and wrote our predictions as to whether they would be waterproof or not and why. We then tested the materials and wrote our findings.
We are well on the way to designing a waterproof lunchbox for Miss Low’s sandwiches! Hooray!!
Good morning!
It was fantastic to see so many children coming to school in their summer gear this morning ready to ignite our Lighthouse project!
Ignite has begun!! Class 2a are currently making seagulls, 2b are enjoying a sensory experience of sand and water while 2c are making a collage Mr and Mrs Grinling!
We are looking forward to our ice cream treat after lunch!
Photos to follow!
