A big thank you to everyone who attended the Year 2 Assessment meeting last night. It was great to see so many people and we hope the evening was informative and helpful.
We received lots of good feedback and are looking to put together the following for parents:
A glossary of terms to support grammar and writing.
Explanations of maths methods used in Year 2.
Spelling rules lists for Year 2.
If you have any more suggestions/questions please do not hesitate to speak to your class teacher. I will be uploading the presentation onto the website after we repeat the meeting next week.
The next meeting is Wednesday 23rd March 5pm-6pm @ Countess Way
1E and 2B are now in competition! We are trying to see which class can get the most families involved in our Reading Record Challenge! Instead of writing a comment over the weekend in your Reading Records, we would like you to complete our Friday Challenge with your family.
After you read together this weekend, we would like you to write down where or take a photo of where you chose to read.
We can’t wait to hear about where you chose to read!
In Year 2 our project is Master Chef. On Tuesday we worked in teams to make delicious cakes! We followed the instructions, weighed all the ingredients, mixed all the ingredients together and baked the cakes. We all got to take some home to try with our families. Here are some pictures from our cooking afternoon…
In Year 2 our current project is Master Chef. This project looks at how food is made and where the ingredients come from. First we look at plants and what they need to grow. Today we got to do our learning outside as we set up our class experiments to test whether plants actually need water, soil and light. After that, we got to plant our own sunflowers! Here are some pictures of our outdoor learning…
We all got to take our sunflowers home today. Let’s see who grows the tallest sunflower!
Every Friday since September we have had a whole class music session. We have learnt lots of different songs and played so many different instruments! We have learnt how to keep a steady beat as well as lots of different sound patterns. The best part is when we all get to play together but it can get very loud!
Ask us at home and we may be able to sing you a tune!
Well done to the children that got a certificate for getting 100% attendance this half term! Keep it up Year 2!
This week Class 2B have really grown their knowledge of nocturnal animals! Did you know that owls have 14 neck bones? Interestingly, owls have different colour eyes depending on whether they are nocturnal or diurnal. These are just a few of the exciting facts we have used to make a report in literacy.
In maths, we have been learning about number and place value. We have been comparing and sequencing numbers and then we connected our knowledge of number to answering questions about different owl’s wingspan.
Next week we will be using our hedgehog home learning to create a report on hedgehogs.
Keep up the great learning 2B!
