Year 5 writers’ day

By admin5th May 2016

Last Friday myself and six year fives, along with some other schools were lucky enough to go to Long Meadow Primary School, where we met a famous author (J.P Taylor).

The children had a great day at getting their creative writing juices flowing and this promoted a positive mindset towards writing. J. P Taylor shared how he plans and gets ideas for his stories. He shared information about his life, we created our own character descriptions and planned a story based on an interesting spooky story we were told.

The children were fully engaged all day and contributed well to the sessions. They came up with creative ideas, wrote them down and shared them. One of our pupils
Overall, the pupils all had great fun and will hopefully take away the excitement and engagement with writing to make some fantastic writing of their own.

Tri-wizard cup winners!

By admin5th May 2016

Well done to Hufflepuff and Gryffindor who have so far won the tri-wizard cup for the most house points awarded in a week. These can be awarded for anything, such as, helping a friend, fantastic learning zone 4 or 5 behaviour, etc and children can lose points for not showing the right learning behaviours and learning zones in school.

Who will win it this week?

Year 5 hazard alley trip

By admin20th April 2016

Year 5 have had a great day learning all about keeping safe online and in different scenarios; such as making an emergency call in the case of a fire and how to stay safe around trains, roads etc.

We even made some great raps in groups about how to stay safe online.

Theatre company performance about the brain

By admin24th February 2016

Year 5 just before the end of the last half term had the pleasure of enjoying a fantastic performance by a theater company all about the brain. We really enjoyed the performance and learnt lots about the brain and how to deal with stresses.

5A have been working really hard growing their sewing skills in project and have created some amazing alien puppets. They have learnt and practised different stitching techniques and their final results are really impressive. I know everyone really enjoyed making their own puppet and are looking forward to using them at home!
