Today was Living History day! We learnt about the Celts: how difficult daily life was, how tricky making butter and flour is, Celtic art, medicines and weaponry!
Year 6 have had an exciting first day! After a drizzly journey, the sun came out for our visit to Brownsea Island. We had a tour of the New Barn Centre, ate a delicious dinner and watched the football! Now we are tucked up in bed after a final hot chocolate and biscuit.
What will tomorrow bring?
Year 6 have arrived safely – they have already seen a red squirrel on Brownsea Island which they have found exciting!
Have a look at the photos from the Year 6 trip to Bletchley Park today. We did an ‘Interception to Intelligence’ workshop and even had a guided tour! We can’t wait to use all of our new knowledge in our learning this week.
A huge congratulations to Year 6 who have finished their SATs tests today! They have shown amazing resilience all week and we are extremely proud of their positive attitudes towards the tests.
Here are some photos of the fun activities that the Year 6s took part in each morning this week. Mr Morrison performed some stand up comedy, Miss Kirkwood taught circus skills and Mr Gray performed on the drums! The children also enjoyed playing games with the teachers and learning dance routines using ‘Just Dance’ videos.
Parents and Carers,
We hope you enjoy our video about how best to support us for SATs!
Remember – breakfast club is available for all year six children Monday 9th May – Thursday 12th May (free of charge) so that we can all have breakfast together as a team each morning of SATs week. Siblings on Fen Street are more than welcome to join us!
This morning, Group D have been revising different tenses in grammar:
- Past progressive – [was/were + present participle (verb+’ing’)
- Past perfect – [had + past participle (verb+’ed’)]
- Present perfect – [has/have + past participle (verb+’ed’)]
- Past perfect progressive – [had been + present participle (verb+’ing’)]
Below is a photograph of the notes we made during the lesson, a video we watched and some websites we used to help to secure this learning. Enjoy!
Jozef in Year 6 recently took part in the production of Road Safety films during a half term digital animation camp.
The films will be premiered at the Junior Filmmakers Outdoor Film Festival taking place on Willen Lake on April 30th from 4pm to 8pm. The children will be called up to the front to speak about their film and receive certificates of participation. Please come along to the event to show your support.
