Foundation one and two have been learning about incubating eggs as part of our Growing and Changing Project. We are already two weeks in to our egg incubation period. We have been using the eggscope to look inside the eggs to see the forming embryo and look for signs of growth and movement. Through this week we will watch closely to see if we can see the eggs wobble and if we can hear the chicks cheeping from inside the egg. Countdown to hatching is now just 7 days away! As soon as hatching begins we will take turns to watch the chicks hatching out off their egg shells.
We practised our observational skills by looking closely at the flowers in our classroom. We have also improved our drawing and colouring by the careful pictures that we made.
We celebrated the Queen’s 90th Birthday with our very own street party!
The children wrote invitations, made cucumber sandwiches, decorated crowns and painted union jacks.
We were so excited by a visit from the Queen! Everyone stood and sung our national anthem to her.
We planted seeds in our garden. Let’s hope that they grow over the next half term!
This week we have been learning to measure length and height. The children loved measuring each other’s heights!
We knew that it was only fair to use items that are the same size when measuring so we decided to use bricks and cubes.
We used our new measuring skills to measure the height of the beanstalks that we had grown over Easter. Some of the beanstalks were very tall!
We used multilink cubes to see the difference in height between each of the beanstalks.
Our project is Growing and Changing this half term and we need your help!
If you have any gardening skills or any spare pots or plants, real or fake flowers we would really appreciate them to help bring the project to life!
Thank you for spending time to grow the beans at home. Thee children were very excited talking about them with their peers.
Have a lovely weekend,
See you Monday
We learnt how to look after our teeth from a visit from the dentist. We were able to play games about healthy foods and design our own tooth. After the visit we were very excited to take our new toothbrush home to practice!
