Year 6 Fen Street Day visits to the Frontier Centre

2nd October 2020Mrs E Allen
Wow – what a week we have had!
Year 6 have fired arrows, riden mountain bikes, worked as a team to solve the maze, and overcome their fear of heights on the high ropes course.  They have canoed, gone Above and Beyond and proved how their team work, communication, relationships and respect for each other had grown over the last 4 days.
The weather has been kind and the food has been great!
All children have shown determination and resilience in the many teamwork tasks and had the absolute best time.  They have cheered each other on and have grown their friendships.
Year 6, each and everyone of you have grown your mindset and confidence over the last 4 days. Your teachers are unbelievably proud of what you have achieved individually and as a team. We’ve built strong relationships together and we are ready to conquer year 6! Time to get some rest and have a relaxing weekend, ready to put everything we have learnt into action in our classrooms Monday!
More photos to follow…………..

Day 4 Year 6 Day visits to The Frontier Centre

26th September 2020Mrs E Allen
Group 1: On our last day, we fired arrows and continued to develop our teamwork in the maze and on the high ropes! However, all the fry ups and donuts in the world couldn’t calm all their nerves! We finished our week with some quiet games and football. Rest up kids… Back to work Monday!
Group 2: Group 2 had an amazing end to a fabulous week with many children overcoming their fear of heights when scaling the climbing wall.  This morning we grew our biking skills through twisty turny mountain biking trails.
Group 3: Wow what a final day! Group 3 started the morning scaling to new heights on the rock climbing wall. In the afternoon, we put our biking skills to the test racing around the 4 mountain bike tracks! We finished the day putting all of the teamwork skills we have developed this week to the test in ‘Above and Beyond’. Group 3 have shown determination and resilience this week, they have cheered each other one and have grown their friendships. They should all be incredibly proud of everything they have achieved this week.

Group 4: What a week we have had! We finished our week by testing our bravery and scrambling up the obstacles, as well as walking the high ropes! You proved how your team work, communication, relationships and respect for each other had grown over the 4 days as you successfully completed ‘above and beyond’. Our afternoon was spent being blown around Stanwick lakes, playing in the parks and enjoying the countryside.

Year 6, each and every one of you have grown your mindset and confidence over the last 4 days. Your teachers are unbelievably proud of what you have achieved individually and as a team. We’ve built strong relationships together and we are ready to conquer Year 6! Time to get some rest and have a relaxing weekend, ready to put everything we have learnt into action in our classrooms Monday!

See you then !

Day 3 Year 6 day visit to The Frontier Centre

25th September 2020Mrs E Allen
Day 3 Year 6 day visit to The Frontier Centre
Group 1: We had a fantastic bush craft session, where the children built sturdy dens and warm fires. Later, we enjoyed all the fun obstacle courses and scenic views around Stanick Lake. I imagine everyone is very tired this evening.
Group 2: Group 2 had lots of fun today making shelters and learning how to start a fire. We also started the day with an awesome adventure around Stanwick Lakes.
Group 3: Today we started the morning aiming for a bullseye in archery! We learnt a new team game from Mrs Morrison and enjoyed playing football together. In the afternoon, group 3 showed their bravery and belief in each other when completing the high ropes course and leap of faith! Well done group 3!
Group 4: We started off our day climbing up to the sky! We practised our team work by holding the rope and supporting each other as they climbed the wall to the top. Unbelievably scary when you look down and realise you life is in the hands of 3 smiling year 6 boys! Luckily, they held on tight. This afternoon we competed for bullseye in archery and orienteered around the grounds, racing against other teams to find the letters and unscramble to find the word. Every single one of you have given it your all today despite being exhausted! Well done team 4!!

Day 2 Year 6 Day Visit to the Frontier Centre

24th September 2020Mrs E Allen

Day 2 news from the Frontier Centre

Group 1 – Today we rowed up the river and some of us had a splash in the river. Then in the afternoon, we completed mission impossible and played team building games. The children and staff are having the most amazing time, everyone is getting stuck in and trying all the activities.
Group 2 – Fears were conquered up on the high ropes with children supporting and encouraging each other.
Group 2 have had an amazing day building their team work skills to gain points to build a rocket.
Group 3 – Group 3 have had another amazing day not letting the rain dampen our spirits at all. We started the day with a long walk around Stanwick Lakes, enjoying the assault course, tyre swings and zip wire along the way. This afternoon, we learnt how to build our own shelter and campfire in bushcraft and had lots of fun running around the maze!
Group 4 – Today we had so much fun learning to survive in wild during our bushcraft session. We built a shelter big enough for us all and worked together to light a fire. We then adventured to the lake for some canoeing, where we got to jump in and have a good splash. We ended with some team builiding games. The children’s attitudes were so positive despite the rain!

Letter for parents about COVID-19 symptoms

Public Health England have produced a letter for schools to distribute to parents which explains when a person requires a coronavirus test and what the symptoms of coronavirus are. The Department would be grateful if you could share and circulate this letter amongst parents at your school.

The intention of the letter is to help prevent children being taken out of school unnecessarily and answer some of the questions parents may have around testing.

You can view the letter here.

Year 6 – Day 1 – Trip to The Frontier Centre

22nd September 2020Mrs E Allen
Group 1 have had an amazing first day! We had a fantastic time mountain biking! Then in the afternoon we faced our fears climbing and played football in the sunshine.
Group 2 loved today! We started the day with archery and above and beyond. In both of these, lots of us learnt new skills and develop our team work. This afternoon we got to splash around on the lake as we canoed. We also had the chance to jump in.
Group 3 have had a fantastic first day at Frontier. We started the morning canoeing along the river followed by exploring the adventure pits! After a delicious lunch, our teamwork skills were put to the test in Mission Impossible challenges. We finished the day learning a new skill of map reading, using maps to navigate around the centre to find the hidden clues! Miss Holloway has been so impressed with the determination and resilience shown today and was very proud of how well they worked together as team.
Group 4 started today with team building through different mission impossible style tasks. We built bottle rockets and launched them seeing whose went the furthest. We al had an amazing time bike riding, which tested our resilience but every group member was praised by the staff for their effort and hard work.
We can’t wait to start all over again tomorrow! More photos will follow tomorrow. See you at 7:30am.
The year 6 day trip team.
