Today we started our new whole school project all about the brain.
To ignite our learning for this week we worked with Miss Broome to create a huge brain.
Our art work will be going up on display in our school.
Here are some photos from our day:

We used shapes to create patterns and pictures.

We had great fun measuring each other’s heights. We used tape measures and cubes to measure the length and then compared our heights to find out who was the tallest.

We had a great time chopping up different fruit and vegetables to see if we could find the seeds.
The tomatoes were very gooey!

The best way learn about shapes is to go on a hunt for them!
We went looking around the school grounds for any 2D or 3D shapes that we could find.

We found a circle:

a square;

Some cones:

Some cylinders:

a sphere;

and a cuboid;

We took a traffic survey outside our school. It was fascinating to see the different types of transport that go past our school from cars, vans, trucks, motorcycles, buses to police cars! We used this opportunity to practise counting in 5s.

We have been problem solving on Foundation.
My basket can only have 10 fruit or vegetables in it. What different ways can I fill my basket?

We have been looking at sharing in Foundation this week. It is amazing what fun you can have with some dried pasta and some plates!

We even had our own banquet, pretending that different coloured cubes were different foods. We really had to use our problem solving skills to make sure that we were sharing out equally.
