Open, Grow, Believe

13th March 2015V Holloway

A big congratulations to 2 boys from 5c who have achieved their Open, Grow, Believe badges this week. You have both opened your heart to Brooklands Farm, have taken big steps on your learning journey and are believing in yourself and others!

Well done! (p.s we loved the silly faces for comic relief!)

World Book Day

8th March 2015

We had a great day dressing up as characters from our favourite books. The teachers were all dressed up too and we all thought that was hilarious! We had a long story time where the teachers shared their favourite stories with us all.

One of our favourite costumes was Rainbow Fish. She even had scales to hand out to all of her friends!

A busy week in 2c!

8th March 2015Mrs S Taylor

We have had a great week with lots of great learning!

On Monday we worked in trios to make visual models to show odd and even numbers. We focused on being able to explain our model to the rest of the class and all the children showed a great understanding of odd and even.

One group made an odd and even pattern.

Another group explained how even numbers could be halved.

On Tuesday we tried lots of fruits and vegetables for our masterchef ignite. We used a thesaurus to up level our words and write them into mind maps.

Up, Up and Away! ,

6th March 2015jenniferhover

Year 1 have had an amazing time at Shuttleworth learning all about aeroplanes!

We learnt about the materials used to build the planes and we were shocked that most of the old planes were made using fabric.

All of the planes (except 3) in the collection are regularly flown by the pilots. They must be very brave!

Finger Spaces Song

5th March 2015Mrs J Gowen

Miss Jenkins has gone and done it again!  We loved the ‘Open, Grow, Believe’ song so much she’s written another fabulous song for us to sing, this one to remind us to use our finger spaces in our writing.

Capital Letters Song

5th March 2015Mrs J Gowen

Yet another creation from Miss Jenkins.  This fantastic song will help us remember to use our capital letters when writing.

Instructions

5th March 2015
This week in writing we are learning how to write instructions.

We started off the week by writing instructions for how to make a jam sandwich.

We tested out our instructions and made the sandwiches, it was great fun and we LOVED eating the sandwiches for our snack!
