This week the Literacy home learning is due in on Monday.

Miss Snowdon’s maths group task will be marked as usual on Wednesday.  Please have the work in on Tuesday.

This week we have been working really hard on mental maths (including our mind set of maths!) we have been doing mental maths tests and also lots of SODA (starter of the day activity).

Please complete the 10 mental maths questions below by Tuesday 9th December 2014– Write the answers in an email to me (office@brooklandsfarm.milton-keynes.sch.uk and it will be forwarded to me) or on a piece of paper. Good luck and trust your skills!

1. What is the product of 7 and 8?

2. What is 1/3 of 18?

3. What is the total of 18, 19 and 20?

4. What is 1/5 of 35?

5. Convert (change) 257 cms in to metres.

6. There are 9 eggs in a box. I buy 6 boxes. How many eggs have I brought?

7. What are the factors of 72?

8. Write three decimals which sum to 2.

9,. In a class, there are 12 girls and 20 boys. What fraction of the class are boys?

10. One pack of bread rolls costs £1.23. How much will it cost to buy 3 packs?

Next week year 6 will partake in assessment week. During assessment week there will be a spelling test as part of their SPaG assessments. 

Please spend 10 minutes a day completing one of the online games to help with your general spelling practise this week. Also practise the writing spelling words that the children will need to embed into their prove it writing on Wednesday, which you will find under parctise 2.

Below, you will find two spelling practises that you can do at home  to help them with your spelling assessment next week.

Spelling Practise 2:

Next week we will be writing an explanation text in literacy about forces and Aerodynamics. This will be bringing an end to our Aerodynamic homework.

This week’s spelling list are double consonant spellings. The children will be tested on the Wednesday we come back in their normal homework marking slot.

Children’s spellings are individualised to their needs. The spelling rule for each week is the same for all children. Children will either be focused on a green, orange or yellow spelling list. Children need to focus on these spellings for their spelling test but can look at others to progress their spellings further.

We have been focusing on place value and the four operations in our group.

For the October half term holiday homework, I would like you to use your knowledge of the four operations to answer some worded problems. Please follow the success criteria at the top to help you. If you have forgotten the method, please use the website and look in the curriculum tea pack.
