Year 2 visited Lancaster SEAT in Milton Keynes. Here is the news report:
3c are developing their landscaping skills as I type! With our VW project being all about the electric car, the children are working in their trios to create a plan for our estate of what needs to be around in order for people to buy an electric car. Children are using a map from Google to look at what our estate looks like now and plotting new roads/streets, houses, shops and charging points. Everyone is in a very high learning zone and excited about the plans for the future.
The children in Foundation 2 have been working really hard on our core book ‘Whatever Next!’ and our space theme.
We are inviting all parents in to view our work in our ‘Space Museum’ on Friday after school. We will be hosting our Children in Need cultral bake sale at the same time so come and buy a cake and enjoy our work.

Class 2b have had a fantastic first week back after the half term break! We have been working hard on multiplication in maths and the children have been using lots of practical resources and visual images to work out the answers to multiplication number sentences. In Literacy, the child have written some fantastic car adverts for the Skoda Citigo, Yeti and the Fabia. Hopefully, we will be able to post some examples onto the class page. Finally, in Project lessons, the children perfected their sales technique in the VW showroom upstairs, persuading the buyer with special features of the cars. I have heard from lots of parents that the children have been busy putting these skills into practice at home too! Keep it up 2b!
During half term, the children were asked to design their own car. Every design was fantastic and here are some of the examples. I think we have some designers amongst us! Leave us a comment to tell us your favourite car!

As the Volkswagen deadline draws nearer (Wednesday 12th November!) year 5 have been working extremely hard to ensure their final product is of the highest quality, ready to be shown in Volkswagen headquarters this week!
Today, we identified Volkswagen factories around the world. Andrew, a manager from the Volkswagen group, came in to explain how Volkswagen decide where to produce their vehicles and parts. We looked at the graphs which showed us how expensive it was to build in each country, how many cars are sold in each country and also the quality of living in each country. All of this information will help us to decide where we would like to build our car!

Over the past two days, year 6 have been visiting Silverstone, home of British motor sport! This was to ignite our learning for our next project ‘Aerodynamics’, which coincides with our last project for VW.
The children had a tour of the Silverstone grounds, including looking at a map of the different areas of the track and the history relating to those different areas, a tour of the pit lanes, the control centre and we even got to stand on the podium!
We has an exciting tour of the Porsche Centre and even got to sit in some Aston Martins, Ferraris and single seater race cars! We finished the morning by having a tour round a working garage.
After lunch, we had an exciting workshop afternoon making balloon powered cars and improving our cars to make our cars the fastest! We even had a race at the end!
What a fantastic day! A special thank you to the two parents for helping us on this day, it is very much appreciated. Another thank you to Victoria at Silverstone for a well run and fun day out out. After this exciting start, we can’t wait to see where our next project takes us…
