2016 SATs sample papers

By 11th March 2016

Here are the links to the government website, where you can download and view the 2016 SATs sample papers.

SATs

If anyone would like to help at home over the next few weeks, until the SATs papers, please encourage children to read every night (and to read a rich variety of texts) as well as reading to your children (so they can hear how we add expression, pause for punctuation etc) Spellings and times tables are things you could verbally quiz your children on whilst they help you make dinner in the evenings (spelling lists can be found on the website or please ask your child’s class teacher, who will be happy to print you a copy)

Recommended revision guides – CGP and Rising Stars

Thanks

Friday Reading Record Challenge

By l hearn10th March 2016

1E and 2B are now in competition! We are trying to see which class can get the most families involved in our Reading Record Challenge! Instead of writing a comment over the weekend in your Reading Records, we would like you to complete our Friday Challenge with your family.

After you read together this weekend, we would like you to write down where or take a photo of where you chose to read.
We can’t wait to hear about where you chose to read!

Year 5 Stone Age ignite day

By 10th March 2016

We have had a fantastic day today working with Dan from ‘Portals to the Past’ and learning lots about life in Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age Britain. We began the day being split into tribes – Bear tribe and Wolf tribe and throughout the day, the two tribes competed on a variety of Stone Age challenges. We learnt lots of new and interesting facts about the Stone Age, did a scavenger hunt style quiz to find out information for ourselves, played a fishing game and re built stone henge!

We ended the day with the opportunity to look (and touch) a variety of artefacts from the Stone Age and Bronze Age, including a woolly mammoth’s tusk!

We would like to say a huge thank you to all the Year 5 children and parents who made such an effort with costumes – the children looked fantastic and it really helped bring the day to life!

Here are a few photos from today…

Year 1 Green Town Group art trip to Campbell Park

By 9th March 2016

Last Thursday Miss Drapers class were lucky enough to join artist James Aldridge and the team from MK gallery for their first out and about creative walks in Campbell Park. We were really lucky with the weather and the children loved all of the interactive outdoor learning that they did and created some beautiful pieces of art work towards their Artsmark ‘Discover’ awards.  We are all really looking forward to the next event in spring!

In Year 2 our project is Master Chef. On Tuesday we worked in teams to make delicious cakes!  We followed the instructions, weighed all the ingredients,  mixed all the ingredients together and baked the cakes.
