Task 1: In school we have begun to use an amazing website to practise our spellings. For homework can you use the website spellingframe.co.uk to practise your spellings. It allows you to break up the word, put the word back together, listen to the word being spoken and check your own spelling of the word.

Task 2: Complete to practise on Mathletics and continue to practise timestable rockstars.

Happy New Year from all of the Year 3 team!

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break. Thank you for all of your support last term and for supporting your children to produce wonderful project homework over such a busy two weeks off!

Below is the link to this weeks homework. We are focusing on time and recapping what the children learnt in year 2.

There are 2 pages.

Page 1 is less challenging and just covers what was learnt in year 2.

In year five last week we had the amazing, magical experience of visiting the Harry Potter Studio Tours.

We got to see so many incredible things, such as: the props, costumes and masks, the rooms and buildings, green screen effects, models, paintings and designs and so much more.

This will really help us in our project learning this term.

Task 1:  After enjoying the films ‘The Hobbit’ or ‘The Jungle Book’ this week, we now need to begin our research on the films and their characters.

Can you research and find the key information that you will need to write your film reviews? Use the questions below to guide your research:

 

  • Who are the main characters in the film?
    • Who are the actors for each of these characters?
  • Research the producer of the film
  • What was their last movie?
  • What other films have they produced?
  • What was the release date of the film?
  • How long is the film?
  • What is the main story line (plot) of the film?
  • Is this film based on a book? If yes, who is the author of this book?
  • Was there an earlier version of the film?
  • When was it produced?
  • Who by?

This week, for our Harry Potter project, as we have been to visit Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter, could you please answer the following questions?

  1. What was your favourite part of the tour?
  2. What did you learn from your visit to the studios?
  3. Can you name all the Harry Potter books?
  4. What was the most interesting fact you found out?

Borrowers project pupils:

  1. Who is your favourite character?
  2. Do you think they are borrowing or stealing? Is it right?
  3. If you could borrow just one item as a Borrower, what would you borrow?

Spelling

Please practise these spellings in different ways and learn the meaning of each word.

Year 5 spelling words –
The r is doubled if the –fer is still stressed when the ending is added. The r is not doubled if the –fer is no longer stressed.

Reading

You need to be reading for at least 15 minutes every day at home. This needs to be a combination of independent reading and reading to an adult. Remember to record this in your reading record, even if it is not a school reading book – it can be any form of reading, newspaper, diary, story, information text etc. 

Remember your fluency level book to read at home.

Maths

Please log on to your Mathletics account and complete the activity that has been set for you. We have also set times tables activities to practise on Times Table Rock Stars to achieve your certificates, which are given out in celebration assembly.
