25th November 2016admin

Today we have started to learn some new songs ready for our Tree Week performances. We need to be practising these as much as possible to ensure our performances are amazing!

Here are the links to the songs so that we can practise at home!

Robbie Williams – Love my Life

John Lennon – Imagine

Michel Jackson – Man in the Mirror

Year 6 Strong and Powerful Homework

25th November 2016admin

Strong and Powerful Homework

In year 6 we are Strong and Powerful learners, who take ownership of our own learning. To increase our levels of responsibility we have decided to lead our own close the gap home learning journeys.

We have identified the current gaps in our learning in our ‘Close the Gap’ plans with our teachers. We have established whether each of these gaps is something that: we need to be taught by a teacher, can research independently or can practise independently. We have chosen our homework from the research or practise independently columns.

Miss Sheridan and Miss Bold have put together a bank of resources for us to use when we are closing these gaps at home – they will be adding new things to the bank every week. Please find the URL below.

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/14kpQTrhvNsCqEO06sTCKhijnx_pnsgX1HTvFw8hDgmA/edit#slide=id.p

We will see the impact of our personalised close the gap home learning throughout our lessons in school. With our teachers we will be reviewing whether our gaps have been closed. We also have fortnightly spellings and quick maths in our booklets as well. If we come up with any new gaps we need to ask our teachers to put more resources onto the resource bank.

We are looking forward to having ownership over this learning!

Computing

By admin23rd November 2016

Last week we had lots of fun in our computing. We discussed algorithms and coding programmes in different ways such as; crating our own crazy characters and getting others to follow the algorithm, creating a route somewhere following an algorithm and we used scratch to debug mistakes and create our own routes.

Year 4 Ignite day – Bradwell Abbey trip

By admin23rd November 2016

Year four had a great time re-igniting our Roman project by going to Bradwell Abbey. Here we: learnt lots about and got to design our own mosaics, learnt about Roman technology and got to see and use some ourselves, and we also got to experience a Roman banquet which the guests thoroughly enjoyed having their own body slave.

We all had a great time and can’t wait to show all the great learning we have done in our project.

Congratulations also to Freddie Haywood for earning his Calm Pin on Friday! we are proud of how you have become a role model for year 2 and how you have taken on problems and challenges in year 2 and shown some super belief in yourself! Well done young man!

Handwriting success in Year 1 and 2!

16th November 2016admin
Year 1 and 2 are working really hard on their handwriting.
In Year 2, we have introduced the terms ‘ascenders’ and ‘descenders’ to help them position their letters correctly on the handwriting lines.
In both Year 1 and Year 2, the children are familiar with the story of brave monkey and scared monkey to help them understand which letters start at the top pink link (brave monkey’s branch) and which letters start at the top grey line (scared monkey’s branch).
Please visit http://kineticletters.co.uk/ to learn more about the Kinetic letters programme, or speak to your child’s class teacher.
