Here we are enjoying the event:
Yesterday we spent the morning investigating halving!
We talked about how when we halve we split into ‘two equal groups’ or ‘two equal parts’.
We carried out lots of different activities including chalking shapes outside, measuring different water containers, finding different ways to shade half and creating garden patterns which have ben split in half!
It was fantastic to see the children so engaged in their learning and we saw lots of learning zones 4 and 5!
Here we are investigating:
Year 1 loved coming into school in their pyjamas on Friday and even though they were dressed ready for bed they were still enthusiastic in their learning and showed high learning zones!
To celebrate book week, we spent the afternoon listening to stories in our pyjamas! We particularly enjoyed Julia Donaldson’s Monkey Puzzle and it inspired us to do some writing. We thought we could use some of our knowledge collected in our ‘Growing’ project to write about a daffodil looking for its Mum!
Here are some photos of us listening to stories and working in groups to write:
you’ll find hedgehog dens!
1e had a wonderful time at Rushmere yesterday morning when they went to do some learning in the forest!
We had such a busy morning focusing on the different animals that lived in the woods. Herons were first on the list, we got to see how big herons had to build their nests and even looked through a telescope to look at the herons and their nests which were high in the trees!
Year 1 on Countess Way ignited their next project yesterday, ‘Growing’.
We did lots of fun activities including:
Tasting fruit and vegetables from around the world and guessing where they come from.
Every Thursday afternoon at 2.30 for the last two weeks there has been a very calm atmosphere at Countess Way. We have started a shared reading time across KS1 & 2 and it is a truly magical experience! All staff have offered a book to read and the children have signed up to the book they want to listen too. It has been lovely to see the excitement, high levels of engagement and children whisked off into the fictional worlds of some of our favourite authors.
This half term the books include:
The Borrowers
The Magic Finger
Danny the Campion of the World
The Magic Faraway Tree
Wind in the Willows
Fantastic Mr Fox
Here we are listening to the stories.
