Yamaha Music School visited Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 today for an assembly. Below is a letter offering a free lesson provided by them. Forms need to be returned by Monday 12th January.
This week year three have been designing and printing their own t-shirts to wear as part of their campaign to save the rainforests of the world. Aren’t they fab?
We had a fantastic time visiting the Botanical Gardens! We investigated different foods that grow in the rainforest and were lucky enough to have a chance to hold a few animals! We also spent some time in the hot, humid tropical house to get an experience of the rainforest climate.
All the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and now have some brilliant questions to bring to their project learning.
Apologies for the lateness of this post – technical difficulties with the photos!
Year 3 had an amazing Amazon adventure at Birmingham Botanical gardens last Friday. They saw some incredibly tall plants with enormous leaves as well as seeing insect eating plants as well as getting up close and personal with some Rainforest creatures! The weather on our journey certainly got us in the mood for the Rainforest climate-it poured down with rain! The people at the gardens were very complimentary about our behavior and how we tidied up our lunch room. A big thank you to those lovely parents that came with us to help us with our learning. We appreciated your support and the fact you gave up your precious time to come with us on our adventure.
It’s great to see the children so keen to learn!
Question:
What are you most looking forward to?
“Holding the rainforest animals!”
“Learning all about the rainforest.”
“Finding out information about the animals and seeing all the plants!”
In maths, we’ve been practising our 3 and 4 times tables by using songs! If you want to do some practise at home here are the links. Remember to get someone to test you and you can hum the song in your head to get the right answer!
Well, what a day! Year 3 have had an amazing trip to VW Training Centre where they got to see some amazing cars, such as an Audi R8, a Hulk car from the Fast and Furious Toyko Drift, An XL1 worth £80,000-£100,000, the E-Up electric car and even a bullet resistant car worth £400,000, Wow! The children asked great questions and received some great answers. They were keen to gather as much information inside the garage as possible. They even got the opportunity to have first hand training on the E-Up electric car inside one of the training centres conference room. The VW staff commented on the good behaviour and outstanding knowledge of the year 3 team and we couldn’t be more proud of their efforts and successes today!
Years 2-6 are currently sitting in an assembly presented by Laura and Lara, from VW.
A range of cars are currently arriving in the car park as I type.
The atmosphere in school is amazing! We are all looking forward to working together on our exciting whole school project.
All of the children are especially looking forward to working with the VW staff and welcome them to our school.
Year three would like to warmly thank all of the parents who gave up their time to celebrate the Greek Olympics with them. This event marked the end of a fascinating project on the Ancient Greeks where the children investigated how the Olympic Games have changed since ancient times and also how the Greeks lived from day to day. We also wrote our own version of an exciting Greek myth. We are now gearing up for the next part of our year 3 learning journey…watch this space!
Dear parents/guardians of children in year 3 and 4.
In order to ensure the children leaving the school at 3:30pm can leave the building and be collected safely, can the parents please wait to the side of the year 3/4 exit door nearest to the car park?
The year 3 children will line up closer to the door and the year 4 children will line up nearer the MUGA (multi use games arena). When the teachers can see who is collecting the children, they will send them to you.
Thank you in advance for your help
