As you can see, the new Year 5s have been busy practicing this wonderful song, written by Alyssa. They have shown real determination and commitment to learning to the words off by heart. Well done girls!

Just a reminder that it is the Year 5 trip to Warner Bros Studios for their Harry Potter project this Wednesday. There are still a few reply slips that have not been returned to school so please bring them in tomorrow.
Please ensure that children arrive at school on time on Wednesday morning at 8.30 with a packed lunch in a named disposable bag. It will be very busy and there will be lots of other schools there so we ask that children come in their Brooklands school uniform and are wearing comfortable school shoes as we will be on our feet all day.
We should be back before the end of the school day so children can be picked up as normal at 3.30.
Thank you again for all the kind offers of support for the trip – unfortunately, the studios only give a small amount of adult tickets to schools and so we had to offer it to parents on a first come first served basis. We spoke to the parents who returned their slips first and are coming on the trip before Easter so if you didn’t speak with us then thanks again for the offer but we are unable to take you with us.
Year 5 teachers
We have had a fantastic day today working with Dan from ‘Portals to the Past’ and learning lots about life in Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age Britain. We began the day being split into tribes – Bear tribe and Wolf tribe and throughout the day, the two tribes competed on a variety of Stone Age challenges. We learnt lots of new and interesting facts about the Stone Age, did a scavenger hunt style quiz to find out information for ourselves, played a fishing game and re built stone henge!
We ended the day with the opportunity to look (and touch) a variety of artefacts from the Stone Age and Bronze Age, including a woolly mammoth’s tusk!
We would like to say a huge thank you to all the Year 5 children and parents who made such an effort with costumes – the children looked fantastic and it really helped bring the day to life!
Here are a few photos from today…
Please have a look at some ideas to help your child at home.
