Viking research!

By Miss Rebecca Snowdon2nd March 2016

6a are having a fantastic afternoon!  For the ‘collect’ stage of our new project ‘The Vikings’, we have generated questions about things we would like to find out or learn more about.  Now, we are using our reading corner and the iPads to carry out our own research to find the answers to these questions!

Just look at these learning zones!

Skim and scan video – great for practising your ‘find and retrieve’ reading comprehension questions!

By Miss Rebecca Snowdon24th February 2016

The video below is a short one minute video explaining the essential reading skills of skimming and scanning a text to find information and to read at speed.  Both skills are vital for you to practise in preparation for your ‘find and retrieve’ reading comprehension questions!

The website also has other pages that go into these explanations in more detail and there are practise tasks provided.  A great one to do at home – enjoy!

What a week in Year 6!

22nd January 2016Mr J Peters
Wow! This week started on a fantastic note for our year 6 team as some of our ‘Tree Week’ artwork has been framed and put on display in school. It’s like a real art gallery on the staircase. Have a look …
This week we have also been learning about animals and how they adapt to the habitats that they live in (in order to survive). We’ve really enjoyed choosing a habitat and designing our own animals and their adaptations. We even got to design an animal that had poorly adapted to its habitat – so therefore, wouldn’t survive.
We wonder what excitement next week will bring…
