Representing Brooklands Farm at Parliament!

By 8th June 2015
We chose eight of our school leaders to represent Brooklands Farm on a very special visit to The Houses of Parliament.
On the way to the Palace of Westminster, we took in some of the sights and history. Such as;
Buckingham Palace
Admiralty Arch:
Trafalgar Square:
Horse Guards:
Downing Street:
The Cenotaph:

Unfortunately we were not allowed to take photos in the Houses of Parliament apart from Great Westminster Hall but we did get the opportunity to go inside the House of Commons!
The children took part in a workshop about what the different levels of parliament are and how we can get our voices heard.
We found out that there are four levels of Parliament;
– Local
– National
– Devolved
– European
We wore hats to represent the different forms.

Anti-Bullying Ambassadors in London

20th November 2014

This week is National Anti-Bullying Week. We took 8 children from years 3-6 to London to train to become Anti-Bullying Ambassadors for our school.

It was an amazing opportunity to go to the Emirates Arsenal Football Stadium that held the conference in a huge room. The children had opportunities to rap with Bars and Melody from Britain’s Got Talent 2014 and dance with Twist and Pulse from Britain’s Got Talent 2010.

We were so excited to get autographs and photographs!

The teachers got training from Facebook about e-safety and we learnt lots of different tips about how to prevent bullying in our school.

Have a look at our photos below;

Our Anti-Bullying Rap

20th November 2014

Our Anti-Bullying Rap

Anti-Bullying is the reason we are all here,

It shouldn’t be a week but all year.

From London to Essex to Cambridge

Let’s make this campaign famous

Coz’ bullying brings so much pain,

These feelings are making me insane.

Deep down we are all the same

Don’t want to be part of your bullying game!

Open, grow and believe

This is the learning that we weave

We open our hearts and we open our minds

We are people of different kinds.

When you’re in strain,

We can help you with your pain.

Come and…

Join us

Sing with us

Dance with us

Grow with us

Learn with us

Talk to us

Achieve with us

Together we are…

The best by far…

Lead Learners Journey Begins!

15th October 2014jenniferhover

On Monday the Lead Learners met for their first training session.

We looked at the observation format that they are going to use when observing in the classrooms.

We practised observing using a video that has clips of wellbeing and learning zones . We discussed the scores we would give the children and our reason behind our decisions.

The Lead Learners have got a jam packed timetable over the next few weeks and they will be popping in and out of all of the classrooms in school on the look out for high wellbeing and learning zones!

Watch out for them!

School Council Members September 2014

22nd September 2014

School councillors this year are:

Ayaan Umer

Inshirah Khodair

Emily Hirst

Maheen Rizvi

Valisha Sharma

The core purpose of our school council is to ensure all members of our school are listened to. We believe in finding solutions and striving to make our school the best it can be.

We meet every Thursday and discuss our improvement and solutions board and decide what action we are going to take. We also conduct various questionnaires so that we can gather a wide scope of pupil voice.

If you feel there is an improvement to be made please use the board or speak to a school council member.

If you feel you are a good listener, good at finding solutions and are confident to talk about others’ ideas and would like to be on the school council please get in contact with Miss Kikta.
