Thank you to everyone who donated money today for Red Nose Day! The children looked super in their noses and red colours.
If you have any shoe boxes and/or clean large bottles that we can use for a DT project next week, please bring them in!
Have a great weekend,
The Year One team.
Next week will be the final week of our Through the Keyhole project, so the children have been busy finalising their plans for the strongest and safest house they could build. The children were so excited when Danny the builder turned up to help review and grow the children’s house designs! Everyone was so eager to use the new ideas he shared with us to improve their plans for the final design. Here we are sharing our work with Danny, he even picked the best design from each class!
Well done to everyone who presented their project home learning in front of their class and parents! Each person was amazing and had so much to share. Also a big thank you to the parents who were able to share their time with us, if you were unable to come and have not yet seen a video or photo of your child’s presentation, please let their teacher know.
Well done to everyone who attended Golden tea this week. We had a lovely time sharing successes and celebrating achievements. Well done Key Stage 1!
Year One have been exploring algorithms (a set of instructions) in computing. 1b were given the task of writing a set of instructions for someone who had never made a cup of squash before. The children soon realised that they needed to be really clear and precise with the algorithms when Miss Pinder nearly poured the whole bottle of squash into the cup!
What a wonderful way to start the day! We had lots of parents and siblings join us in the classrooms to read with Year 1 and 2 children this morning. There was a real buzz of excitement as the children showed off their book character costumes and they loved reading books together. Thank you to everyone who joined us and well done for the huge amount of effort put into the costumes!
We have had a super exciting morning in Year One! As part of our Great Fire of London project, we have been looking at how to put out fires today compared to 1666 and what to do if we discover a fire. We explored a fire engine and were given a safety talk where we learned how to ‘Stop, Drop and Roll’.
Well done to 1a on winning the attendance trophy for three weeks in a row!!
Keep up the good work, 1a!
Have a good weekend,
The Year One team.
