Finding angles

By E Redley16th June 2018
Year 3 have been learning all about angles this week in their maths lessons. After learning that an angle is made from two straight, connected lines, we went outside to find angles in our environment. The children were very enthusiastic and they managed to find so many different angles! We have also learned that angles have names such as right angle, acute and obtuse.
Year 3 children, can you explain to an adult at home what each type of angle looks like? Can you find examples in your home?

Science experiments!

By l hearn24th May 2018

This week we have carried out several science experiments so that we could test the properties of different materials. We will use our findings to design a coat for Arctic Explorers!

We found it interesting that some of the materials seemed quite waterproof but absorbed a lot of water which made them heavy and not very practical for the Arctic weather. The thermal insulation experiment was interesting because we found it hard to ensure it was a completely fair test.

Here are some photos from our experiments.

Silverstone 10K!

By l hearn11th May 2018

On Wednesday, Brooklands Farm came third out of eighteen schools in the Silverstone 10K! It was a great event and we loved having supporters there to cheer us on. Miss Ritchie also got a medal for being the fastest female out of all the school teams! A massive well done to everyone that took part.

We are already excited about next year and would love it if we could get more parents, governors and staff involved as it is open to all of you! We will let you know more details nearer the time.
