Class 2c visit Audi

22nd October 2014admin

Today, Class 2c visited the luxurious Audi garage where they learnt how to sell a car. The staff in the Audi garage were kind enough to show the children around the showroom, even allowing them to sit in the much sought-after Audi R8! They also gave us some tips on how to be a good salesperson. We learnt that they start by doing a ‘Meet and Greet’ with a customer. Then they find out what type of car they want.

Watch this space for more photos of the children being salespeople in our very own showroom!

Year 1 Book Sharing

22nd October 2014jenniferhover

Remember Year 1 parents that our classrooms will be open on Thursday straight after school (3:30-4pm) and again on Friday morning (8:30-9:00) for you to come in and see the children’s learning.

The children have all been using their ‘determined’ muscles today to make books all about themselves. We will be carrying on with these books ready to share them with you.

Many thanks

The Year 1 Team 🙂

VW week begins

22nd October 2014admin

What an amazing start to the week the year 4 children have had. They finally found out that their project for this week is about solving logistical problems and then had the opportunity to see cars from the VW brand on Monday.

Then on a busy Tuesday, the children had the opportunity to ask people from the VW breakdown assistance group and The AA some questions about how to solve the baffling breakdown system. This also included the chance to get to see 6 different types of breakdown vehicle. The children were full of ‘superb questions’ and ‘were some of the most polite children that The AA men had worked with’.

We can’t wait in year 4 to be able to set up our own control centre and begin co-ordinating our own Brooklands Breakdown service.

Year 1 explore the cars!

21st October 2014

Volkswagon project has begun and the year 1 children couldn’t wait to go out onto the playground to explore.

We had a superb time exploring all the different cars and camper vans. The children especially loved sitting in the drivers seat and enjoyed driving Miss Tate to magical worlds and holiday adventures!

Here are just a few photographs from this afternoon.

What an exciting treat!

21st October 2014jenniferhover

Year 1c have really enjoyed learning more about cars this week.

We had the chance to look around lots of VW cars that were brought onto the playground for the day. What an amazing opportunity!

The children enjoyed pretending to drive the cars, investigating how big the boot of the cars were and even had the chance to go into the ‘roof’ of a camper van to pretend to sleep in the bed!

Mrs Hover enjoyed driving one of the vans back of the playground ready to put it back onto the car transporter!

VW project launched in Year 2!

21st October 2014Mrs L Odell

What an amazing day we have had! Our Volkswagen project began this morning with a whole school assembly and special visitors from Volkswagen.  Our playground was then taken oven by a huge selection of shiny new cars which we were later allowed to explore! In the meantime we were learning about the five brands in the VW group and the purpose of advertisement.

Here are a few photos from today’s adventures!

Look out for more photos tomorrow as we Ignite our project further with trips to local car garages to find out what it takes to be a sales person!

6b and 6c market Research

21st October 2014admin

Carrying on from yesterday’s exciting Volkswagen launch, this morning the children came in bright and early ready to ask the parents of Brooklands Farm about their needs in a car.

In the pouring rain, year 6 were polite and approached parents as they came into school. They asked them questions from a questionnaire they had devised yesterday afternoon about including questions about what type of car they drive, what is important to them in car and what colours they like.

After this session, Year 6 came back into school and are currently sitting in their groups going though the data looking at what the needs and wants of the parents are!

Igniting Volkswagen!

21st October 2014V Holloway

WOW

What an exciting start to our Volkswagen project. Yesterday we had the privilege of becoming part of the Volkswagen group as the company set each year group a project question to answer!

In year 5 our project is:

How can we rebrand the Volkswagen Beetle to make it popular in 2014?

To ignite our project we have had several exciting activities going on. First of all, the playground became a car park when Volkswagen kindly bought along some of their cars and vans for us to look at! This included an electric Golf, Audi’s, VW Scirocco, campervans and most excitingly a 1970’s VW Beetle! We enjoyed climbing over the cars, playing the stereos really loud and beeping the horns! The most popular car was definitely the campervan which even had a bed in it!

Today the excitement continued as Year 5 were visited by an experienced member of the Volkswagen team. We looked at the history of Volkswagen and the history of the Beetle, we asked our expert lots of interesting questions to grow our learning and understanding of the Beetle, how and why it began being produced and why it was such a popular car. The knowledge and expertise we have gathered today will be extremely useful as we plan our re-branding of the beetle.

And finally, we also got the opportunity to explore breakdown vehicles as we were visited by the AA and VW roadside assistance! We spoke to the engineers about the calls they respond to and how they fix some of the cars.

We will now be working hard on our project so we are ready to share our findings and ideas with Volkswagen in November. We look forward to sharing our projects with you too!

Year 6 AA Breakdown Exhibition

21st October 2014admin

Another exciting morning here at Brooklands Farm Primary school for VW week!

Year 6 had an amazing opportunity to look at, get inside and learn about the AA break down service and how they link to the Volkswagen group.

A huge thank you to the AA men who stood out in the pouring rain but kept the children really excited and inspired.
