6C Homework award

12th September 2014Mrs c Hern

This week, the children have been researching inspirational leaders for homework.

We have complied a list of our favourite leaders ready to present to Miss Low and Mrs Higginbottom.

Emily and Alfie were very persuasive and produced a very high standard of homework.

Well done Year 6! Keep it up!

Super Learning in Year 1!

12th September 2014

This week in Year 1, we have been writing sentences. It was a bit tricky to remember capital letters, finger spaces AND full stops! It was also a bit tricky to grow our learning when we had already worked so hard at the first attempt.

This is Harley, he showed great determination and really had to believe in himself to be able to grow his sentence so he remembered to use finger spaces. Look how proud he was when he finished!

Well Done Harley!

3a share their homework.

8th September 2014Miss G Sheriden

Class 3a spent some time on Thursday sharing their holiday homework with each other. Over the summer they were asked to research Michael Foreman and to read some of his books. Mrs Humphris and Miss Sheridan are very impressed with the standard and the effort of their work. They are very delighted with how the children have settled back into their learning zones.

A Great Start!

7th September 2014jenniferhover

Year 1c have had a great start!

We enjoyed sharing our amazing home learning projects as a class. We are going to transform the Year 1 reading area into a Julia Donaldson book corner using all the puppets, posters and books made by the children during the summer.

We have started our learning about Julia Donaldson in school by reading the story What the Ladybird Heard.

Here are a few of the home learning projects we have shared so far…

An Icy Trip Back In Time

5th September 2014V Holloway

Today year 5 went back in time to discover the Ice Age when they ignited their Frozen Planet Project with a trip to the Natural History Museum to see the Mammoth Exhibition!

We had a fantastic time learning about how Mammoths survived during the Ice Age and we were lucky enough to see the best preserved Mammoth in the world! We collected lots of facts about the Ice Age and the animals that lived during it to use in our Frozen Planet Project this half term.

Thank you to all the adults who helped us on this trip.

Every child was a star and were excellent ambassadors for Brooklands Farm! Well done year 5!

5th September 2014Mrs c Hern

Wow!

What a fantastic start 6C!

This week we have spent sometime looking at the schools ethos and how we can be ‘strong and powerful’ learners. We have had a go at creating a wordle on the computer holding all of the important words that we have brainstormed.taxedo 2

Today, the children have started to make their ‘This is your life’ video on iMovie. The final versions will be shared with another class within the school next Friday and then posted on the website. So stay tuned!

I would like to congratulate all of the Year 6 children for coming back to school after the summer with a fantastic attitude. You have all settled extremely well!
