Congratulations to the year 5/6 girls football team who not only won their league but followed it up with 2nd place in the finals without conceding a single goal!
The girls have grown as a team every week, only conceding 3 goals all year.
The girls will now represent Milton Keynes in the County School Games in Stoke Mandeville, which is a fantastic achievement!

Year 5&6 Football Tournament

11th December 2018Mrs J Gowen
On Friday the Year 5 & 6 football team took part in a tournament at the MK Dons Dome with several other schools involved.
The team played well in their first 4 games managing 2 wins, 1 draw and a loss. As the group was so fiercely contested we knew we needed a big win in our last game.  In order to qualify out of the group in 2nd place and reach the finals held in January, we would need a big win in our last game.
The game started at a fast pace and within a minute Brooklands Farm were ahead thanks to a long range shot. We continued to dominate and towards the end of the game we found ourselves 4-0 up. We had given ourselves a chance but we still believed we needed more goals. As we were pushing forward we were caught on the break and the opposition were awarded a penalty. The opposition’s player missed the target. The referee then blew his whistle. Brooklands Farm had won 4-0, but was it enough?
All the teams sat down and awaited the results.
We were then informed by the organisers how close it was. Emerson Valley and ourselves were joint on points and goal difference but the deciding factor was goals scored. Amazingly by winning 4-0 we had finished 2nd and gone through, by just a single goal!
If we had conceded that last minute penalty we would have been eliminated and finished 3rd.
This was a great achievement from the team and we look forward to the finals in January!

Big Win at Stantonbury Basketball Competition

5th December 2018Mrs J Gowen

On Thursday 29th November a mixed team of Year 5 and 6 children travelled to Stantonbury to take part in an inter school basketball competition. They played a total of 6 games, all lasting 7 minutes.  Of these 6 games, they won 5 in succession only narrowly losing the last game by 1 point. As a result, their team finished top and they were declared winners of the competition!

All of the children who took part showed an outstanding display of teamwork and individual talent in what was a fantastic evening of team sports. In addition, Brooklands Farm received extra praise from all the referees helping out in the event, saying how well they all played together. A massive congratulations to all of these children who took part.

History at Countess Way

By admin7th October 2016

It was a very proud day at Countess Way on Thursday the 6th of October as four teams came to play in a football tournament organised by Mr Spence.  It was history in the making for more than one reason as for the first time the grass field at Countess Way was being used for a sporting event. Secondly it was the first time that Countess Way had ever had a team in a competition. Although the results didn’t go the way of the home side, it was a momentous occasion and even more so in the last match. It was the big ‘derby’ when the clash of Countess Way v Fen Street came together.

We are incredibly proud of the year 3 and 4 children who played with an open mindset to something new, who grew their understanding of what it means to play in a team together and they had to have plenty of belief in themselves and their team-mates to believe they could achieve!

Below is a photo of the history makers and the two Brooklands teams!

Well done!

Cricket Festival & Athletics Competition

By Mrs J Gowen16th June 2016
Last Wednesday the year 5 & 6 cricket teams went to a festival. Both the boys team and the girls team played against 6 teams. The boys finished 3rd and the girls finished 4th. Both teams showed brilliant sportsmanship and did the school proud.
On Monday 6th June we took 48 children from years 3 – 6 to the annual athletics competition. All the children were fantastic. We are currently awaiting the results to find out how many of our children have made it through to the MK finals.
