This half term has been full of our children winning their ‘Strong and Powerful’ pins!
These children have shown excellent resilience to new challenges, leadership skills and qualities and have been working hard at managing their own emotions to ensure they continue to take big steps in their learning. Congratulations everyone!
We have now completed our VW project.
The children have produced high level technical drawings of their revolutionary car designs and written amazing persuasive texts to promote their cars.
To conclude our project, the children have created short videos on iMovies.
This morning, year 6 have been busy using reliable resources to find out where the bodhi tree originated from and other countries in the world where it grows.
The children have been using an atlas to find the grid reference for these countries.
The learning zones and buzz in the classroom has been amazing!
As year 5 arrived at school this morning they were transported back to the year 1665. Boys and girls were separated into different classrooms, with the teachers being very strict, much like in a Stuart era school. The morning started with the boys and girls learning, in silence, an extract from Shakespeare’s Macbeth which they then had to recite to the class.
The PTA are in need of volunteers for these upcoming events:
Lantern Festival, Friday 21st November
Christmas Fayre, Sunday 30th November 1-4pm
Christmas Disco, Thursday 18th December

5c are currently working hard, continuing their fantastic ignite learning. They are researching the Volkswagen Beetle and creating a time line showing how and why it has been produced and how it has adapted to become the Beetle we know today.
Did you know… The Beetle was originally called the KDF Wagen! It only started being called the Beetle by volkswagen because everyone else had started using the name because of the shape of it!
It’s fantastic to see the children so engaged and motivated by this project- they are definitely working in learning zones 4 and 5!
Year 1c have really enjoyed learning more about cars this week.
We had the chance to look around lots of VW cars that were brought onto the playground for the day. What an amazing opportunity!
The children enjoyed pretending to drive the cars, investigating how big the boot of the cars were and even had the chance to go into the ‘roof’ of a camper van to pretend to sleep in the bed!
Mrs Hover enjoyed driving one of the vans back of the playground ready to put it back onto the car transporter!
Carrying on from yesterday’s exciting Volkswagen launch, this morning the children came in bright and early ready to ask the parents of Brooklands Farm about their needs in a car.
In the pouring rain, year 6 were polite and approached parents as they came into school. They asked them questions from a questionnaire they had devised yesterday afternoon about including questions about what type of car they drive, what is important to them in car and what colours they like.
After this session, Year 6 came back into school and are currently sitting in their groups going though the data looking at what the needs and wants of the parents are!
Years 2-6 are currently sitting in an assembly presented by Laura and Lara, from VW.
A range of cars are currently arriving in the car park as I type.
The atmosphere in school is amazing! We are all looking forward to working together on our exciting whole school project.
All of the children are especially looking forward to working with the VW staff and welcome them to our school.
