6b had a break from VW week to join the Real Science event at the Milton Keynes Discovery Centre.
We started the day by learning about the dangerous dust Asbestos. We learnt that while it can be highly dangerous it can also be used to sound proof, add strength to or control the heat of buildings.
Well, what a day! Year 3 have had an amazing trip to VW Training Centre where they got to see some amazing cars, such as an Audi R8, a Hulk car from the Fast and Furious Toyko Drift, An XL1 worth £80,000-£100,000, the E-Up electric car and even a bullet resistant car worth £400,000, Wow! The children asked great questions and received some great answers. They were keen to gather as much information inside the garage as possible. They even got the opportunity to have first hand training on the E-Up electric car inside one of the training centres conference room. The VW staff commented on the good behaviour and outstanding knowledge of the year 3 team and we couldn’t be more proud of their efforts and successes today!
On wednesday afternoon, Year 2 had some special visitors from the Volkwagen group and our very own showroom was offically opened for training purposes!
We were taught what questions to ask a potential customer and how to identify the correct model of car for them!
The children had lots of time to practise with their friends and the experts from the VW group. Some children even stood up in front of the rest of the group to show off their new sales skills. It was great to hear the children using such grown up vocabulary such as ‘recommend’!
Finally, the VW employees were on the look out for the best sales people who were then awarded Audi merchandise as prizes! Congratulations to you!
Again, many thanks to everybody from the VW group who is making this project such a success. We couldn’t do this without you! There is such a learning buzz in Year 2 and around school and lots of children achieving high learning zones.
A huge congratulations to our first official 6b ‘strong and powerful’ year 6’s, who today achieved their red badges.
These children have shown their resilience, leadership and problem solving abilities across the school. It was a real pleasure to award them their badges, which are well deserved.
Thank you to the parents for sharing this special moment with us.

Today, Class 2a visited the VW Commercial Vehicles Centre where they learnt how to sell a vehicle. The staff in the VCommercial Vehicles Centre were kind enough to show the children around the showroom, giving us tips on how to be the best salesperson. We learnt that they start by doing a ‘Meet and Greet’ with a customer. Then they find out what type of vehicle they want. This depends on what the customer needs the van for.

Today, Class 2c visited the luxurious Audi garage where they learnt how to sell a car. The staff in the Audi garage were kind enough to show the children around the showroom, even allowing them to sit in the much sought-after Audi R8! They also gave us some tips on how to be a good salesperson. We learnt that they start by doing a ‘Meet and Greet’ with a customer. Then they find out what type of car they want.

Carrying on from yesterday’s exciting Volkswagen launch, this morning the children came in bright and early ready to ask the parents of Brooklands Farm about their needs in a car.
In the pouring rain, year 6 were polite and approached parents as they came into school. They asked them questions from a questionnaire they had devised yesterday afternoon about including questions about what type of car they drive, what is important to them in car and what colours they like.
After this session, Year 6 came back into school and are currently sitting in their groups going though the data looking at what the needs and wants of the parents are!
Another exciting morning here at Brooklands Farm Primary school for VW week!
Year 6 had an amazing opportunity to look at, get inside and learn about the AA break down service and how they link to the Volkswagen group.
A huge thank you to the AA men who stood out in the pouring rain but kept the children really excited and inspired.
