Maths

*IMPORTANT* You only need to complete 1 challenge and should spend a maximum of 20 minutes on this task

This week we have been looking at one and two step word problems for addition and subtraction.

For example:

1 step (1 operation is used): John has 4753 books and gives 1325 to charity. How many books is John left with?
2 step (2 operations to be used): 1542 men attend a party. 989 ladies are attending as well. 14 guests can no longer go. What’s the total number of guests attending.
SC: Remember the question must make sense.

It must have addition and/or subtraction in it.

It must have a maximum of 4 digit plus/subtract 4 digits.

You need to work it out using the correct method and answer the question in a full sentence.

Challenge 1:

Create 2 of your own 1 step addition and subtraction word problems. Find out what the answer is so you can test a partner at school in maths next week.
