Fen Street KS1 and Foundation Sports Day!

A massive well done to all the children that took part in Sports Day. We saw everyone having fun, trying their best and supporting each other. Thank you to all the staff that helped to make this event a success and for all the parents that came to cheer on their children!

The results were very close! Well done to the green team for claiming first place! You all believed in yourself and worked as a team to succeed!

Then an extra well done for blue team for being the best team at opening their hearts to cheer and encourage their team mates. Throughout the practices and the official sports day, we saw red team show lots of resilience and grow their skills in each activity. Yellow team were also very good at believing in each other and cheering on their team.

Well done and thank you to everyone that took part!

A huge well done and thank you!

The Year One team would like to thank everyone involved in helping the children achieve their best in the Phonics Screening Check. Every child has worked their hardest and were all so keen to do their ‘special phonics job’, we are extremely proud of everyone! To celebrate Year One had a party this afternoon, they chose to either get creative, dance, watch a film or play on the bikes outside. They also enjoyed the delicious food that was kindly brought in by the parents.

Thank you once again, we couldn’t have done it without your support!

Brookfest Rehearsals

Year One have been busy practising for Brookfest this week, everyone is so excited! The songs that we will be performing are:

Robbie Williams – I love my life

The King and I – Getting to know you

Jess Glynne – Hold my hand

Please practise the songs at home with your child! (:

Soft Start Mornings

Thank you to all of the parents who stayed this morning for our first ever Soft Start! The children really thrived on working with their parents and everyone was in a high learning zone. If you didn’t have a chance to stay, we will be holding Soft Start sessions to boost your child’s phonics skills every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 8:30am – 9am. These will be on every week until the phonics check in June.

Resources for phonics

Thank you to all the parents who attended the parents phonics check meeting, it was great to see you all and share your child’s progress so far. As promised, below is the link for a brilliant website that allows you to print resources that you can use at home for free! Your child will need to know all of the sounds up to phase 5 for the phonics screening, please ask your child’s teacher if you are unsure which phase your child is currently working on. Once you are on the website, scroll down to find the link ‘Phase 5 Resources’. If you are unable to print off these resources, please let your child’s teacher know.

Thank you for your support!

Time to celebrate!

In Year One, we love to celebrate our own and others successes! The children have responded well to having a weekly celebration assembly within our classes. The children are given the opportunity to tell others what they have done that week that makes them feel proud and a some children are even presented with certificates that celebrate an achievement.

Well done to the children awarded with certificates this week!
