Not only have Year 2 been learning about lighthouses in school and making big pictures of them in art, they have created their own 3D models at home too! Take a look at these incredible creations. A massive thank you for all the help they received in making these! We have had a mini museum in the classrooms so they could all be shared!

If you would like to do some extra learning over half term, here are some photos and a video to remind you how to hold your pencil, lie down and write some of your letters correctly. Remember the ‘a’ is part of the abracadabra family with ‘c’ ‘d’ ‘o’ and ‘g’.

Year 2 have settled really well this half term! They have got into very high learning zones and continually try to grow their learning. Here are photos from their Friday maths afternoon…
To ignite the Year 2 lighthouse project we had a very exciting beach day! We came into school in beach clothes and made seagulls, played in the sandpit and created videos. We even had an ice cream!

This week we were really lucky to have a tortoise come and visit us. Our new literacy focus is on the story ‘Esio Trot’ so the visit from the tortoise was really exciting because he was exactly like the one in the story! Here are some photos of him…

Year 2 are settling well into their new classrooms and routines. We have had a lovely last day learning about Nelson Mandela and doing PE in the sunshine! We really enjoyed playing football, tennis and having a go at archery!

Today we had an exciting surprise visit from the police! They let us try on their uniforms and go inside the police car! They even put the sirens on and let us ‘beep’ the horn!
“I felt excited.”
“Wow! Now I want to be a police man!”
“Police cars are really cool. My favourite part was when people got put in (tried on) handcuffs!”
This was a really exciting experience and we will talk more about the police in our ‘Inspiration and Aspiration’ project!
Year 2 were shocked on Friday when the classroom had moved around and there were less tables! We have now found lots of places in the classroom to get into high learning zones.
