Have you ever stored keys in your shoes?

By Miss L Bliss16th September 2016

This week Year 4 were lucky enough to meet Stuart Myers. Stuart was born without arms and has overcome every barrier in his life, which the children thoroughly enjoyed learning about.

Highlights included:

  • his adapted car
  • his computer skills
  • his ability to manage a team
  • and how he unlocks his car from his shoe!

His amazing resilience was inspirational for all.

This session concluded our ‘inspiration and aspiration’ topic. Next week we begin our whole school project, looking at how effective our learning environments are.

We hope you have a lovely weekend!

Determined Start

8th July 2016

Wow! What can we say? Miss White’s class have had a super start in Year 1! Both Miss White and Miss Tate have been very impressed with the children’s Determination to Open,Grow and Believe with everyone in their new class!

In Literacy we have been focusing on ‘What makes a Brooklands learner’ The children have had lots of fun learning the actions to their text map and have even started to write the text map into their books.

Miss Tate love’s a good sing song and has been teaching the children songs about capital letter’s, finger spaces and full stops. The children have even learnt a new song in maths all about number bonds! Perhaps you could practise these at home?

Today we started our project Inspiration and Aspiration and have begun by collecting knowledge about inspirational people who help us… next week we will be looking at inspirational writers, sportsman, mathmaticians and scientists!

Thank you to all the parents who came to Transition tea. It was great to meet you all and begin to connect as a community. We hope you have enjoyed the first week of Transiton as much as we did!

A welcome return to Start the Art!

By 4th July 2016

We are really pleased to announce the return of Start the Art, the early years and community program delivered by MKG and Brooklands arts team.

Hosted by Countess Way site the sessions offer opportunities for creative exploration for pre school members of the community and their parents and the Foundation stage children who attend Countess Way.
The sessions are carefully planned to access all aspects of sensory learning, allowing the children to experience a range high quality and sometimes unusual materials in a friendly child initiated environment.

Sessions for pre schoolers can be booked through Milton Keynes gallery website.
http://www.mkgallery.org/events/2016_07_04/start_the_art_out_and_about/

The sessions for Foundation are included in their usual weekly timetable.

Walking with Giants success!!!

By 3rd July 2016
Walking with Giants! What can I say?…now it’s all over I have had a little time to reflect.

The sun shone, the children danced and sang their hearts out, teachers joined in with so much enthusiasm, parents and friends smiled, a team pulled together, an artist and his teams of children across both schools created, drummers drummed and the parade began, two schools as one, a community growing and celebrating together …grateful and proud to be part of the Brooklands Farm Legacy!

Thank you to everyone involved and of course everyone who attended!

One community together…

Congratulations to our first children to be recognised for demonstrating our Brooklands British values in an exemplary way. Normally there will be one ‘King’ and one ‘Queen’ but we just couldn’t choose between these two kings!
Miss McDonald is busy making very fancy sashes fit for royalty. They will be ready for next week’s King and Queen to wear with pride!
