Our learning journey begins…

By E Redley21st September 2018

The Year 3 children have settled well into their new classes and this week saw the ignite of our first topic – Natural Disasters. Children were thoroughly engaged exploring types of natural disasters and created tornadoes (in a jar) and volcanoes that we erupted with the magic of bicarbonate soda and vinegar!

In literacy we have begun to learn an information text about earthquakes using actions to help us remember the vocabulary. Year 3, can you remember any of the text and show your grown up?

In our maths learning we have been continuing with our knowledge of place value and addition using resources to support our understanding.

We can’t wait to get stuck in with our new topic!

Our Open, Grow Believe certificates have so far been awarded to the following children:

Week 1: Leo, Harley, Ben and Dylan

Week 2: Grace, Alfie and Emilia

Week 3: Harvey, Artur, Laila

Well done for all of your hard work!

Year 5 Ignite Day!

By S Forbes18th September 2018

Year 5 have had a fantastic day igniting our new project, ‘Who’s in charge?’ We have started our project by exploring how the Anglo-Saxons came to England, how they affect our lives now and what kind of leader Edward the Confessor was. In the afternoon, we re-enacted the Battle of Hastings and made our own shields, swords, spears and axes. The children thoroughly enjoyed this experience and had lots of fun!

Year 6 Residential Update – Day 3!

By Mrs S Taylor12th September 2018

Sorry for the late update this evening. We have had a busy day full of adventurous activities that have really challenged our resilience and bravery. We have completed high ropes courses including the ‘leap of faith’, the Kind Swing, climbing, mountain biking and fencing! We have been working on setting ourselves goals for each activity and working towards these.

We spent the evening watching a film and chilling out after our visit to the shop! Here we are about to enjoy our relaxing evening.

Year 6 Residential Update – Day 2

By Mrs S Taylor12th September 2018

Day 2- we have worked on our resilience today through a range of activities from climbing and king swing to mountain biking and kayaking. Everyone has tried hard to push themselves a little further and has learnt new ways to trust themselves and our teams.

We finished the day, tiring ourselves out on the bouncy castles and we reflected on everything that allowed us to be strong and powerful. We have all gone to bed exhausted and looking forward to what tomorrow has in store.
