Another lovely celebration of a super week! These children have come back to school ready to learn, with determination and resilience! Well done to all of you – it was certainly well deserved!
Today we had our overdue Golden tea from the last week of the previous half term. The children very proudly shared their successes and enjoying saying well done to each other (and enjoying the chocolate cake of course!)
Please find below a copy of the Half Term Homework.
Please speak to your child’s class teacher regarding the date of their presentation. These have already been allocated but cannot be published online.
Please speak to us if you have any queries.
Have a lovely half term break!
The Year 1 Team
As part of ‘Online Safety Day’, Year One have been looking at how to stay safe when exploring the internet. We came up with lots of questions that we had as a class and worked together to find out the answers. We came up with 4 top tips on how to stay safe online and became online safety super heroes!
- Don’t talk to strangers
- Be nice online
- Don’t give out personal information
- If somethings feels wrong, tell someone
As part of Computing, we have been looking around school for technology. We decided that technology must be something that is man made and helps us. Have a look at what we found!
Our Year One ignite day was a brilliant introduction to our new project – The Great Fire of London! The children loved dressing up in different clothes for a day and getting a feel of what life was like back in 1666. We had a variety of stations, including candle making, sewing, making bread, quill writing and many more.
Once again, a big thank you to all of the parents who made our ignite day possible!
Well done to this week’s attendees of the Key Stage 1 Golden tea! It was lovely to hear how hard everyone is working already. Lots of great learning and super behaviour! Well done to all!
We have had a great week back! Miss Draper was so impressed with how quickly we all settled in. It was lovely to share all our activities over the Christmas holidays.
This week we have been doing lots of science activities. We revisited the body and learnt our five different senses – can you share them at home? We got to use our senses in several different games – our favourite one was where we were blindfolded and had to find out who took Miss Draper’s keys!
We finished off our week by revisiting the seasons – Miss Draper was so impressed at what we already knew. We also learnt that seasons are a result of the Earth travelling around the Sun. Can you share your experiences with your parents? You are welcome to come in and take a look at our Science floor book which has lots of photos.
We look forward to next week where we will be starting our new topic. We will be sharing all of our home learning and finding out what we already know. Our classroom is slowly being transformed to 1666 London – please come in and take a look!
1c have been learning A.A. Milne’s poem, “When I am six”. We learnt the poem by heart, using actions to help us. We’ve now innovated our poem as a class – come in and see what we have come up with!
Next week we will be creating our own poems – can you have a think at home? What did you do when you were one, two, three, four and five; and what will you do now/when you are six?
