Achieving together!

By 18th September 2015

I have been exploring learning today and how to help children develop deep level understanding across the curriculum. It has given me more ideas to make the learning exciting and purposeful! I love being a teacher as it allows me to continue my learning journey with the children.

I was amazed to see the wonderful summer home learning that the year 4 children produced, there is a little taster of some of them below! A big thank you to all of the parents and guardians for supporting your children with this learning. Your continued support is truly appreciated!

We are looking forward to beginning our Romans project next week! Watch this space for the information on the exciting ignite trip we have planned!!

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Mrs McNeaney 🙂 and Miss Varney

Strong and Powerful home learning

By Miss Rebecca Snowdon18th September 2015

Calling all year six!

There has been a typing error on the home learning.

The writing task and school leader application letters are due in on Wednesday, not Monday!

The art task is due in on Monday; however, as it is required for the ignite day!  If there are any printing issues, do not hesitate to email it in to school to be printed here.

Please also be reminded that we provide a Tuesday lunch time home learning club every week.  If for any reason, you would prefer to do your home learning in school with a teacher nearby to assist then do come along.

Please find a copy of the home learning task in the link below:

Note – the formatting corrects itself once you download it.

What a strong and powerful week of ‘close the gap’ learning!

By Miss Rebecca Snowdon18th September 2015

Phew!

This week we have been really busy finding the gaps that have crept into our learning journeys over the summer.  We have enjoyed seeing the other year six teachers in the morning for ‘close the gap’ maths groups and are really getting back into the swing of writing! We have aching hands now.

Our ‘Take One Picture’ project learning has been a great opportunity to be creative and collaborative.  We are so excited to communicate this learning with our parents next Thursday (remember it is first come, first serve!).

Preparation for the Lantern Festival has already begun.  Today, we began learning the choreography to the dance that we’ll be performing.

Here is a sneaky preview of our groovy moves:

Roll on November!

Miss Low’s Blog

Maxine and Esme

Introducing the beautiful Esme Hern who is Mrs Hern’s new baby.  Mrs Hern came in for a visit with two week old Esme and immediately handed her over so that she could support us to make our return of the year 6 results to the Department of Education!

We love the teachers at Brooklands Farm, there is no barrier to ensuring out team is dedicated to the children in our learning community.

All our new teachers have settled quickly to the ways of Brooklands Farm Primary School and my visits to the classrooms show me that our growing community is thriving in week two.

Our song this week has been ‘What Have You Done Today to Make You Feel Proud?’.  I am proud of the way the school has settled into the new term. Personally, I am proud that I have learnt how to do a Google Hangout, although people are telling me I tend to shout out (well they are five fields away, surely you have to shout!).

Mrs Morrison’s Blog

Well done to all the Foundation children and parents who have made it to the end of their first week!

Observations around school this week have been based around inclusion ensuring personalised learning for every child has begun.  We have set the end of year targets in most year groups and will be reporting these to you at the November parents evenings.

During my daily visits to classrooms I have noticed that children are really enjoying being back in the routine of learning. We start our new projects next week and the children are looking forward to their Ignite trips and activities.

What is rhythm?

By 17th September 2015

Year 4 are learning and experiencing percussion instruments this term. Today they were challenged with the questions what is rhythm? You can ask them and see if they remember! We also learnt about beats and pulse.

In the pictures you can see us using the Djembe drum. The children found it interesting that this was used many years ago in African tribes to send messages between tribes, the old fashioned mobile phone! Maybe we could use this to send messages to our family over at Countess Way!

Keep achieving Year 4! 🙂
