In your childrens’ homework book this week is spellings, maths and literacy writing homework.
Countess way year (4D) also have reading homework but you have two weeks to complete this as there was a lot of homework this week.

Thank you so much to the Year 6’s who did research on Bletchley Park. We have started to use this homework in our Project areas and will be using them to begin our lessons on Monday and Tuesday afternoon!

Literacy
In literacy we have been looking at newspaper articles. We have shown you our new imitate text and would like you to understand where the key skills of year 6 are shown within the text. Can you identify each skill from your ladder in the text and highlight using colours or label with a pencil. This will help you to understand how to use the skills within this text type.

We are so incredibly proud of two of our new family members! We are really grateful that Nassim and Kaamya have joined our team and achieved their Open, Grow and Believe pins and have definitely shown what it means to be a Brooklands Boy and a Brooklands Girl! We were happy that your families could join to celebrate with us as we build a relationship together! Now we believe in you to get your Calm pins very soon too!
What a brilliant return to school this week with lots of children showing how much they have learnt this week about properties of materials and the shapes and structure that is required for a lighthouse to survive the elements. We have also tried hard to recycle to make our lighthouses.
In the last week of term 3b were very proud to celebrate the first child in year 3 to achieve their Balance pin!
This member of 3b has truly shown the values we believe make us achieve our best in year 3 already and we are very proud of him and all of his hard work this half term! He is a true role model! Well done!
Accelerated Reader have been back in touch!
Many of you will have seen Miss Sheridan’s video blog back in July. She talked about the ways in which we have used Accelerated Reader at Brooklands Farm. This time, they came back to find out how we use theory and evidence-based research to ensure we provide the very best education for all children. They loved the way we use assessments to help children understand the progress they have made and how we create dialogue with children,providing them with opportunities to set their own next steps and goals. What an amazing day we had on Tuesday at the Milton Keynes Discovery Centre! Have you ever wondered how Chemistry and Science are used in the real world? If yes, then ask a Year 6 student because we learnt all about it on our trip!
We discovered: the different parts of soil, how potholes are formed, how to build roads and bridges, how solar panels work, the digestive system of a horse and lots more!

Year 6 have started their Computing learning journey this week!
We have been on a QR code treasure hunt researching information about the internet and understanding which sources are reliable.
We acted as web crawlers (spiders) to help us understand how search engines choose and rank information. We looked around the classroom for an item and then wrote down its location and how many items were there. After that, we ranked our data – just like search engines do!
Also, we deconstructed laptops and identified the different components and functions.
