Amazing week!

By Miss G Sheridan20th September 2015

Well done 3B you have been amazing resilient learners this week. You have tried hard to maintain learning zones 4/5 and have been great at working together to keep wellbeing high for everyone in the class. We have started to form strong relationships within the classroom and we are becoming a great team together! I am extremely proud of you all! Keep it up!

Lots of learning in the Lower Juniors!

By admin7th September 2015
What a great start to the new school year! Children in Lower Key Stage 2 have been in great learning zones today and I have been very impressed at how quickly they have got back into the swing of learning!  In Mr Stott’s class, they tried out their new literacy books and I could already see improvements in their handwriting! Miss Fowler’s class were busy describing what makes a good learner and Miss Sheridan’s class were exploring their new peer marking resources. In every class there was a buzz of excitement. Bring on tomorrow!

Welcome back 3B!

By Miss G Sheridan5th September 2015

Hello 3B,

I hope you have all had an amazing summer I can’t wait to hear all about them!

All teachers have been very busy this week continuing our own learning journeys in preparation for Monday. I have been very busy ensuring our classroom environment is just right and is ready for the start of our journey together.

I am extremely excited about being your teacher and helping you grow your bakance and create your journey in year 3. I was so impressed with how well you settled during transition, they way you supported each other and continued your learning was something to be proud of.

We are all looking forward to seeing you again and to start our journey to become balanced learners. See you Monday morning, don’t forget your ‘gotcha smiles’!

I am very excited about my new role as Head of School for Lower Key Stage 2 and I can’t wait for the children to be here so we can start becoming balanced learners and achieving together!

See you on Monday everyone 🙂

Summer holiday homework

By 22nd July 2015

Summer Holiday Homework

During our transition Project, we looked at the painting ‘Mr and Mrs Andrews’ by Thomas Gainsborough. We will be continuing to link our learning to the painting in September, as part of the National Gallery’s ‘Take One Picture’ project.

Please choose at least one of these activities to do for your summer holiday homework:

  • Re-create the painting ‘Mr and Mrs Andrews’ in your own style! You could paint it, collage it, do it as a mosaic, sketch it etc
  • Research Thomas Gainsborough – his life and his most famous pieces of artwork. Create a Powerpoint presentation or information leaflet about him.
  • Pretend you are Mr or Mrs Andrews and write your diary. You could share how you are feeling, your thoughts on your relationship etc.
  • Write a story with Mr and Mrs Andrews as your main characters and their farm as the setting.

Please bring your homework into school on the first day back, Monday 7th September, so that classes can share what they have done over the summer together.

If you are looking for a day out which will link to our ‘Take One Picture’ Project, then we recommend you visit the National Gallery in London and find Thomas Gainsborough’s painting ‘Mr and Mrs Andrews’ to have a look at the real thing!

Year 3 Rockin’ away

By D Gray25th June 2015

Year 3 have had great fun today in Science learning about rocks. The children initiated some of their learning by deciding different ways to group their rocks and then we classified them by analysing the texture and appearance!

Keep on rockin’ Year 3!

Creating a foundation classroom

By D Gray15th June 2015

As part of our Building Project, year 3 have had a fantastic time using their design and technology skills to help create a miniature classroom that adheres to our client’s needs. Children have reviewed and improved their designs and have evaluated which were the best materials to use. It’s so important to have a growth mindset and to keep improving our work so I am very proud of my children for doing so!

Here are some pictures of year 3 hard at work:

Year 3 visit the new school

By D Gray5th June 2015

Year 3 had a great time visiting our new Brooklands Farm Primary School on Countess Way. We enjoyed walking through our community and even had a little picnic on the new field! Year 3 asked some fantastic questions and have grown their understanding of how a building gets from the design stage to the finished stage.
